Regarding Druid's post, as much as I loved their service and cp, we did lag a bit when we went through EscapedTurkey. Anyways, just offering some alternative options.

haha, nice avatar pez. Arrested Development is the best show out there! Hopefully Showtime or ABC will pick it up since FOX is retarded. -------------------- ![]() |

....... barb's get boring & very repititve in a short time for me (not to mention drawn out). nooooo, ... especially with Scrap B's latest AT long range arty analysis, new strategies are developing. With that the challenges are fiercer than ever with 2 sides clashing knowing what they have to do to win faster than the other. In other words nooby individual play is becoming rare and team tactics is predominating more than ever. This post has been edited by Hellfighter: 01/23/06 4:36pm -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

well for me it gets boring, for me doing better in cassino takes more skill then it does in a tank.

Barb is pinning down the oposition at their spawnpoints and storm their bunker with coverfire from arty, tanks a/o fixed gun enplacements... the infantiry gets wiped away by massive fire from tanks and this results in that fighting is done at medium-long range with tanks with people who like to walk (like me) are on defence, ambushing tanks and give them supressing fire with bazooka's... This all is damn dangerous at the end as bazooka's or anti-tank weapons arent available enough and when you shoot on a tank which is on medium-long range, you get a massive shell on your head.. for me it gets boring quite quick. Cassino you're all the same and you dont have weapons with unlimited ammo, massive damage and good range like tanks.
Even more so, tanks give quite good protection even while their visability is avarage to poor.. Cassino is about out-tricking your oppenent by nippy footwork, solid aim and unpredictible ever-changing tactics. -------------------- C'est pas l' histoire d'un jour

A tank gunner's worst enemy is crafty infantry who know how to slip past a complacent or inaccurate defender in a tank. Or worse, 3-4 infantry in jeeps who provide too many targets and close the distance too fast for the tank to take them all out.
If you want to get used to the Barbarossa map without tanks, try the 24/7 CTF server (FKs?). I'll sometimes play over there... CTF is definitely different on a large map like that. -------------------- |

i used to be the same way lipton. Except i got tired of running all the way over the the other end to be killed by a tank, so now i take a tank it has grown on me, i don't always take one but killing people in a tank feels good expecially seeing the thing blow up while they are in there.

I would say there are great tank/jeep maps like Foy. Barbarossa is so huge, you almost need a vehicle just to get around. I got sick of it when I'd spend alot of time moving towards the battle and then get wiped out by a tank or the spawn rapage was pretty much the map entirety... just a waste of time. Don't get me wrong, had some good times too.

Barbarossa is so huge, you almost need a vehicle just to get around. I got sick of it when I'd spend alot of time moving towards the battle and then get wiped out by a tank or the spawn rapage was pretty much the map entirety... just a waste of time..... What i like about high intensity tdm maps like Cassino [today I scored 126-57, but we lost Spawn rampage comes about if the team you are on falters by neglecting defence. Thinking stealthily pretty much drastically negates getting wiped out by a tank while moving in battle. If you are a tanker constantly checking all around you rather rushing ahead past blindspots negate the chances of partypooper rocketeers like me shooting the tank in the rear and into oblivion. You can also spend a good portion of the fight defending a threatened base seeing alot of action without the necessity of feeling like you need to move forward. What horrifies me is seeing a team rush take out the crucial first base to plan, but seeing the enemy is using the same tactic and pummeling your own crucial base- its then the savvy player realises both teams are playing no defence - the team who decides to rush back and save one base will win.... but drunk with success of quick base elimination no one attacking cares to go back to defend. So, what I'm saying is Barby is complex and needs to be seen as a progression of tactics/decisions rather than seeking instant/consistent action. To me, definately not a waste of time. What might help you is staying in cover a little bit and scoping out the area first where you intend to move over and take a path where you can run for cover should danger arise.
