COD4 is a great game and unbelievably popular.
Over 13,000 servers are up and running. I've never seen anything like it. -------------------- BLAM! Clan - Often inebriated, Rarely incarcerated |

IMO COD4 takes more tactical skill than COD2 did. While it does not have tanks for your precious BAS the objective games are quite fun. HQ is enjoyable to even die hard TDM guys like myself. Domination and Sabotage are also both very fun as well. While I'm sure many will say that TDM is just madness with everyone running around with no point I would argue against that. Especially in match play. If your team is organized and fights with a purpose you will be effective. If not you are toast.
As for the kill streaks. I routinely have streaks of 10, 15, and even 20 kills in a row. I'm not sure what my high is but I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 40. Helicopters and airstrikes in pub play make this fairly common. Hardcore mode seems to be the favorite of most of the MOBsters. I think overall it probably takes a bit more caution because the weapons are very lethal. The stock mode is more "arcade" style and some people complain that they have to shoot someone with too many bullets to kill them. I find that I can kill 3-4 people routinely with one clip using the assault rifles. Perhaps more with the M16. Just depends on which you prefer I guess. I didn't like hardcore to start with but I think I enjoy both equally now. My gripe with hardcore is that all of the weapons are lethal at any distance with only 1-2 bullets. So someone can take an uzi and shoot you across the map where as in stock mode you'd be lucky to kill them with an assault rifle. Just seems to negate the advantages of the different weapons to some degree IMO. Another annoyance in Hardcore is that with the ability to shoot through walls and on certain maps teams will take the heavy machine guns and just shoot through walls into high traffic areas. Again one bullet can be lethal. To me this isn't what game play should be about but I can't complain that teams take advantage of an in game option I guess. That's my .02 worth. You should check it out. But be prepared to be frustrated to start with. It takes a little time to get the feel of the game and not get slaughtered constantly. Hope to see you on soon! -------------------- Give a man a match and he's warm for a min. Set him on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life. |

.........But be prepared to be frustrated to start with. It takes a little time to get the feel of the game and not get slaughtered constantly. Hope to see you on soon! How my fate would've been different if after my first week of playing the original CoD the scenario you noted brought me to the point if throwing out the game -as in 99% inclination to do so.... then the rest is history, I endured the slaughter; my success was not by learning to be good, but in my being familiar with dying in so many ways I learned how to not die and thus stay alive longer to kill, kill, kill.... and cod4 sounds like it'd be a winner for me based on all the recommendations -I'll see you in cod4 at some point.... rack 'em up boys!
