Seems Sonnen wasn't playing fair in his fight with Anderson.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/blog/cagewrite...?urn=mma-270724 I actually called this while watching the fight. His Backne was terrible. I wanted him to win bad too. I hate Silva's antics. I'm guessing the rematch is off now. -------------------- Give a man a match and he's warm for a min. Set him on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life. |

So disappointing, it gives all the Silva nut huggers a great excuse even though any possible steroid use doesn't stop the fact Silva lacks TD defense. To me Sonnen's fight proves Hendo probably could have won if he wouldn't have made the mistake of trying to stand an trade with Silva. Sure, Hendo is know for his knockout power but he's a one trick pony in the striking game. Simply lacks the tools to fight Silva's game.
Something I don't understand is why they announced the PED finding without going into details. There are a dozen different stories floating around because of near total lack of facts released. I was really looking forward to a rematch, I'll be surprised if it ever happens how. |

They reduced his suspension to 6 months. He has a quack... err doctor that "prescribed" testosterone to him. Given what I read there were not proper tests done by this doctor to diagnose him with the problem or to put him on a correct dosage if he in fact did have an issue with low T. He was taking injections 2-3 times a week which would be WAY more than what anyone with low T would need. Unless of course you are trying to enhance your performance and you like walking around with a hard on all the time.

Still getting conflicting reports as far as why and what it means. I was interested enough to watch the hearing, all I can say is WOW. I assumed the commission members conducting the hearing would know what was going on as the matter is fairly routine but they were totally clueless.
In Sonnen's favor I think this had little to do with the original accusations of CURRRENT steroid abuse since it's a 3 year old medically documented condition. The down side is a common reason for him to have this condition is because of steroid abuse much earlier in his career. If Silva makes it past Belfort, I hope his next match will be with Okami. Okami's wrestling is almost as good as Sonnen's, the big difference is Okami has good sub defense. |

I watched a live stream while I was at work, slow work day. Personally I wouldn't bother trying to find a copy of the hearing, it was a long drawn out clustefuck. They repeatedly stopped and restarted while the commission attempted to figure out what was going on.
break...... look something up because they were clueless break...... look something up because they were clueless Lunch break...... so the members could confer an make a weak attempt to look like they knew enough to agree. Sonnen repeatedly asked how he should have handled it to stay within the rules, he never got a solid answer. |

Pleaded down to probation, no biggie. brother can't get any love.
LOL I'm really surprised they are giving him Akiyama for his next match. Did you see 125 yet? I thought it was a good event, really enjoyed seeing Diaz shut down and frustrated. He didn't have his usual 3+ inch reach advantage and was controlled on the ground. It seems unfair to make Edjar do another immediate rematch, Sure it sucks to have a draw but I think they should move on. I think as soon as Edjar loses, he will move down and dominate the Featherweight divsion. The only reason he was fighting in lightweight is because the UFC paid so much more than the WEC. |

UFC has suspended Sonnen. Yeah I watched some of it. I'm not a big fan of Diaz either. He's a punk. I'm not sure it matters who fights in that division (155). There's just not a buzz around those guys. Even with that Matrix style kick Pettis isn't going to be a draw IMO. He'll never live up to that again. Even if he wins it won't look like that. I think the UFC wants to see Edgar lose to Maynard and Maynard lose to Penn. But that's just my opinion.
Did you see the Dream event? They fed Overeem another tomato can and Sakuraba had his ear torn off. Was pretty gnarly. Supposedly there's a tournament in place for Overeem and Fedor to meet up this year. We'll see I guess. -------------------- Give a man a match and he's warm for a min. The strikeforce HW tournament is official, been waiting for this for a long time.
I felt bad for Sakuraba, he would have to be one of my all time favorite fighters. The guy would be GOAT if he wasn't often matched up with bigger fighters and if his knees could of held out. |

I see Sonnen has officially been replaced by Marquardt for UFC128. Which is okay because I didn't care to see Sonnen vs Akiyama anyway. I wonder how much longer the UFC can continue to act like Akiyama is still a top rung fighter when he barely beat Belcher, only to lose back to back fights.

Well here we are. Time for the rematch. I noticed at the weigh ins that Shael did not have back acne this time around. Big difference from last time. Still can't believe I called that when watching the fight. He looked really withered from the weight cut this time. He inhaled that water bottle as soon as he stepped off the scales. I don't see how carrying more muscle is going to help him. Maybe there's a method to the madness that is Shale.
Who you got? I give it to Anderson. Shael has to be perfect for 25 mins and Anderson just has to be in position for a few seconds. One would assume the only thing Anderson has done for the past year is defend takedowns and getting up off your back. I don't think he'll remain in Shael's guard the whole time content to take a beating. Should be fun. Can't wait! -------------------- Give a man a match and he's warm for a min.
