1. If you want to go from a modded server into another server, first quit your game. Then restart your game and then go into the server you want to.
The reason jumping from a modded server into another server causes problems is because all the stuff from the modded server is still in your game's (computer's) memory. Quitting your game releases this memory so that your game can start up fresh again. 2. If your game hangs while trying to download a map, or you are having horrible lag and/or connection interruption problems, or etc., AND YOU HAVE TRIED #1 ABOVE, then: Download and run the cod, coduo, cod2 multifixer from http://callofduty.filefront.com/file/CoD_MultiFixer;67336. It will take all of the non-stock stuff out of your game and put it inside a folder where it is no longer accessed by your game. 3. If you are experiencing lag in a game, or if you just want the best possible unlagging experience you can get from a server, then download and run EndItAll. This program shuts down everything on your computer that is unnecessary for gaming. It leaves your game and ventrilo (or teamspeak) running just fine. Get EndItAll from here http://www.the-old-sea-dog.net/enditall.html EndItAll will not harm your computer in any way. When you want all of your computers functionality back, simply reboot your computer, and voila, it's all exactly the way it always was. 4. One more note about lag -- No other player in a server will cause you to lag. Lag is typically caused by something you are running on your computer, too much junk in your game's folders, or a bad internet connection somewhere between you and the gameserver. Rarely will it be the fault of the gameserver itself, but poorly run servers will lag, but if so, every player in the server will experience it exactly the same as you are. You can test your internet routing to a server by downloading and running the freebie portion of Pingplotter. You run it, and put in the IP to the gameserver, e.g. 8.9.4.75. You can get the freeware version of pingplotter at http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html When you go to this link, scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the free version. It's all you really need for doing a gameserver check. 5. If you've done all of the above and your game is still having trouble and you feel you need to uninstall and reinstall the game, then okay. Honestly, it's extremely rare that you should ever have to do this. But if you do, here's how to do it: Uninstall the game either via its uninstaller or via your computer's Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Then delete out the directory containing the game. This is very important, otherwise, when you re-install, you'll put the game back exactly as it was before you started. Then re-install the game, download and run the patches, put all of your settings the way you want them, and you should be good-to-go. (One of you who uses a Mac, feel free to post the instructions for doing this on a Mac... thanks). -------------------- [img][/img]
