my friend is having a problem playing gears of war.hes tried uninstalling it etc.. says it plays for about 3 minutes then crashes.wondering if anyone would have any ideas for him. heres his specs ,
Here we go again. It's made by Gateway, model FX7024. Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad-Core. Each core operates at 2.4GHz, 2 x 4 MB L2 cache, 1066 MHz FSB. NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT Overlocked 512MB on-board memory. And it operates on Windows Vista Home Premium. When I start Gears of War, it crashes within 3 to 4 minutes. -------------------- |

What message comes up when it crashes?
Word for word if possible. If no message comes up, then tell him to check then even log. start>>>programs>>>administrative tools>>>>event viewer In event viewer, you'll probably want to check both SYSTEM an APPLICATION |

thanks druid. heres what the event log says.
Microsoft Windows Gears of War has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. That's everything word for word. This post has been edited by UNDEAD 1: 03/21/08 7:56pm -------------------- |

I was hoping it would be a little more informative.
He may want look at the error message in the event viewer for a more specific cause. Without more information I can only offer generic help. 1) Check for driver updates to all his hardware 2) Any problems with other programs? 3) Any recent changes? |

I'd also be wondering about heat. Does he have proper ventilation? Can he check the temp of both the memory sticks and the GPU?

actually 'windows live' reinstallation isn't so bad... compared to reinstalling 'windows' the system.
