QUOTE(*AtimA* @ 06/10/05 2:08am) Read up on this and other console commands: http://mohaa.dbw.org/displayThisArticle.php?article0050 Open your console. For starters Type: set com_maxfps 120 This should get you to 135fps or so. The default setting is 99 if you want to change it back. After this it could be dangerous to you Vid card, so go at your own risk, but you can change the last number to anything up to 999. I think I have mine set to 800, but I don't think it makes much differenece after 300. If you need help, get in touch. This post has been edited by Ramos: 06/10/05 9:41am |

It seems to work fine. Can you explain? BTW: I never claim to be smart on these issues. Help me out. This post has been edited by Ramos: 06/10/05 10:23am |

Man, I'm pushing my Vid Card to the limits. It's allegedly a top-of-the-line ATI. I've got it overclocked with maufacturer's software and I could care less what happens to it since I bought an extended warranty with my computer. All I can say is I get incredibly smooth images in changing dynamic gaming environments. I've got all my game settings maxed out and it looks and acts great. That's what I was looking for. You never know about these things if you don't try.

Silver, I used to own a MACs as well. They're very cool machines. The PC's caugth up with them for the things I use a computer for and I wanted to play games, so I made the very difficult transition over to PC. Sounds like you're in a similar quandry. If you want to play PC games, you need a PC. Plain and simple.

Unless I'm mistaken, the console command there only uncaps the limit MOHAA puts on your vid card, not your vid card itself. I always set it to 999, but I never got my FPS over 70 with my old video card. Putting the cap to 999 will only help you if your card already is capable of displaying that many FPS; it won't "boost" your card's performance. It will merely allow the game to display that rate if it gets that high.
Atima, what you're thinking of is overclocking a card, which can cause it to overheat and break if you don't know what you're doing. This actually does increase its performance output, but again, make sure you know what you're doing before you try it. You can do the same thing with the main processor on your PC (eg, run a 3.0 GHz processor at 3.2 or 3.4 GHz). -------------------- |
