1. Unreal Tournament 3 - has a warfare mode that sounds like a sophisticated version of Base Assult, complete with vehicles!

2. COD4 - to see what the fuss is about smile.gif

3. Crysis - Enjoyed the ability in Far Cry to be able to go "off the path" and modify your approach and play style...not just run-and-gun constantly. Hopefully, this is the same.

If anyone else gets games 1 and 3, let me know.

I played the MP beta for Crysis when it was in testing and was not impressed in the least. I believe stryker has the game and might give more detailed input on it. Oh and from what I see on EA's website most ppl are about as upset about Crysis as they were Airborne. Which is quite an accomplishment to have two misses that big in a row.

Crysis has the potential to be the next generation FPS with their
new engine. But with all stuff new, it requires more HP from your
tired old PC. Still some new features the engine has are still not
implemented in the game correctly. These should be fixed in the
upcoming first patch. The second patch will deal with some added
materical to both SP & MP. The SP side is what the game is mostly
about right now. With a 2 year old PC like mine, the game can be
played with decent FRs but a slight loss of graphics. Using an autoexec
file, the graphics can be better without a FRs loss. Even on fairly low
settings, I get very realistic graphics, better than any FPS game I have
seen to date. Things can only get better with an engine this good.
Modders are already hard at work with new maps and mods to move
Crysis along to achieve new things to keep the interest alive. The MP
side is more like an after-thought and needs much more work to get
it up to the SP side in quality. Some new modes of MP (co-op is one)
would increase the gaming potential by leaps & bounds. This game lends itself to more of a small stealthy American strike force sent
into an action of getting some objective completed by taking out a much
larger force of defenders. Its not a force vs. force type of play like
COD series. Modern day actions, to be realistic, are more of this type of game play than the army vs. army done in WW2. If you want to be
a sniper and get things done stealthy, this is a game for you. For the
run-n-gun gamers who just want to shoot-shoot-shoot and rack up score, then stick to the COD type of gaming.....

JIM

BTW, there are just as many hackers (maybe more) on Crysis then there are on COD4
THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ON ALL MULTIPLAYER GAMES IMMEDIATELY !!!!!!!!!

Here is a modded map that a player made in about 48 hours:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is a short map, where you control Raven, sent on an assassin mission to eleminate an international weapon dealer. Here is the mission objectives :

Mission Briefing

Two days ago, around 14:00 GMT+6, Echelon intercepted a phone conversation that seems to pinpoint
the location of Nori Shyuhei, one of our top researched weapon dealer on the international black market.
He seems to be located on a small island in the Indian Ocean, where he is experimenting on breaking new
weapon technologies. However we assume he will stay on this island only for a short amount of time, and
although your team is already on a mission, we cannot pass on such an occasion.

The submarine Gomzahs83-U1 will drop you from a safe distance of the island, you will make your way there
and try to pinpoint Shyuhei's location, and make sure that he never gets a chance of continuing his traffic.

Your codename for this mission will be Raven, and the general Rickson will be on constant communication
with you from the Gomzahs83-U1 to help you with the tactical details.

I do not need to remind you that the failure of this mission is not an option, and that such an opportunity
might not show up ever again.

Good luck.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was a single player mission like many that are being made for
this game. Player has to be stealthy and action can be intense if
you are discovered. A good diversion from all the shoot-um-ups

Here is a small video on just how a mission like the above might
play out:
