Liddel again found an opponent who could take a punch and was willing to throw big punches with accuracy and reckless abandon. No one saw that knock out coming, just like Chuck never saw the punch. That is a top 5 contender for greatest knockout. Sports Illustrated has a great article on UFC and its growing popularity. Great fights all night, lots of upsets.

This time Rampage took it easy on him. 2 punches and beddy bye time. In the first fight, he owned Liddell's ass. Punches, nee's everywhere and hammer blows for 15minutes. There's a new sherriff in town.

Everyone was picking Chuck. I wondered if they were on crack or just didnt see the last time where Rampage pounded on him for 15 mins. Chuck is great and can beat anyone at any time but Rampage has his number I think. He uses that unique "kick yo ass" style to perfection.... looking forward to a rematch.

I think Liddell would have lost anyway, but a championship bout shouldn't be called that quick. Chuck was stunned, but was just putting up some D when it was called. He wasn't even swollen up or anything.
Like I said, he still most likely would have lost, but that was called waaaay to quick. -------------------- |

The only reason chuck was gettng up was rampage took his knee off his torso and let go of him as ref moved in. I agree he wasn't totally out, but he sure would have been if it went another 10 seconds. I recorded it and watched it over a couple times. when you quit defending yourself it's the refs job to move in and stop it...for your own safety. chucks arms both go out to the side as rampade is dropping bombs on his chin.....ref moves in! Another indicator chuck was out, IMO, is when he's up to his feet and with it again, he asks his corner man what happened. lol! he was out! -------------------- |

The only thing the ref stopped was brain damage and facial reconstruction for Chuck. The ref stopped it at the right time. It's a shame for the UFC that Chuck lost. They had been pushing him HARD as the face of the UFC and he got knocked the bleep out. This could be a set back for them in the mainstream. I still think they will continue to grow because sports fans are hungry for combat sports since boxing is so corupt and hasnt had a personality since Mike Tyson (basically 20 yrs). Unless they figure something out fast boxing is on life support....

I am one who does not like fights getting stopped early, but I disagree with you. Chuck, while not unconcious, was "out of it". His arms were devoid of motion, and he was not defending himself. Even after the stoppage Chuck was on his feet saying "what happened?". He had no clue he lost. I watched it several times also 6. For those interested check out buzzhumor.com to watch it again. I've been catching some of teh PRIDE and IFL fights lately. There are some tough people out there. The UFC is not the only game in town. Prime example: RAMPAGE!!!! Ben Rothwell is 6'5" and 265lbs with 16 knockouts. Check him out in the IFL. His leg kick to the head is really impressive. -------------------- |
