I am surprised over the last few days to see several "You have unauthorized skins" messages for various players in MOB server #2.
This concerns me! How are these players able to get into the game, given that sv_pure supposedly checks the pak files and configurations before letting a player join? Does this mean these people have a way around the sv_pure program, only to be caught with the CP scan? We all know that there are ways around the CP scan...so is it possible that, booted once, they go and do what they have to do to pass the CP? Crud! This might mean that once again my Allied Ranger translates on some punks computer to Ali G...neon red and yellow flashskin. In the land of the blind, the one guy with flashskins would be king! Don't mean to be paranoid, but the "unauthorized skins" messages really shook my confidence in the system. On another note, can't we simply add server forced models to the mix? I bet if we got screenshots from everyone on right now, at least 50% of the germans would appear as the "lab technician", sporting 3/4 length bright white coats! We could have a poll, perhaps (yes, your dollar, not aspiring to democratic rule...hmmm, come to think of it, what we have is MOB rule! LOL) of which uniform each side desires most. The server might even rotate the uniforms with each map, giving each side the best available camoflauge for the terrain. On yet another rambling note...is it possible to turn off the avatars on the server side? That would make ID at long range even MORE difficult. Just my $0.02! Let me take this opportunity to thank the MOB members that have made all this possible. I know that it has taken intense effort and no small expense to make all this come about! FatherMurphy PS. My significant other significantly HATES you guys! LOL |

I asked FK the same question the other day.
He told me that when you are connecting to the server CI begins it's scan...if you watch you can see the incoming player on the "roster" before they are acually in the game. The warning you see is up even before they are in the server, and because of sv_pure they will never be allowed to connect.. I hope this makes sence to you guys....it's a little hard for me to put into words, but you will see that any CI warnings that come up are for players that have not even gotten into the server, and never will |

I posted a thread here about a skins message I was getting. I played for like an hour and got the message like 5 or 6 times, as far as I know I was using stock skins. Some people made some comments and I think an admin kicked me. I just rejoined the server and never got the message again.
I know I have custom skins on my comp(non-cheat skins), but I dont use them, I thought the server was supossed to auto-switch them anyway? |

Thanks for the reply, Nixon!
It DOES seem to me, however, that people in the game ARE getting the message...just like n0kdub indicates. Maybe it's just a glitch, something that will be worked out in the next sv_pure patch. Just out of curiousity, have you guys tried to fool the system? Not that I'd expect a reply to that question here, I guess. Perhaps the future will bring server forced models...I think THAT would be the best answer myself. See ya out there! FatherMurphy |
