How to get people to play Smolensk Options

Play CTF on Smolensk today, and it was fairly fun. I love Base Assult, but this was different. Only problem...no tanks. Not sure if everyone would like that mode, but like I said, I had fun. You could try that.

However, here's the other way...

Both BA servers rotate between Barbarbossa and Smolensk between each game. No two set matches.

Even if you just do it for a couple weeks, people would at least try Smolensk again. Be sure to have all fixes in place, and rename the map slightly (SmolenskRedux or something).

You might piss off a few dedicate Barbarbossa people, but right now, you can't get into Barbossa 80% of the time, while Smolensk is usually empty. Even a half full game in Smolensk on BA is little fun. Usually over in minutes. Rotaste the maps on both servers, force people to try it, then go back to dedicated servers. If Smolensk doesn't take off after that, it wasn't meant to be.

Or try CTF.

Once that is done will see how it goes.

You might get a whole new set of clientele with ctf on this map Druid. The other server I see it on often has 30 players in its peak hours. Short matches lots of fun should hook folks to stay and play longer than 45 minute hard work playing BAS/CNQ on this heavy duty map. Or rotate CNQ and CTF on Smolensk.

Well, I'll just relate my experience. Right now, I can't get into Barbarbossa. It is almost always full. Smolensk is always empty. So, I started playing the CTF Barbarbossa I and II server that Hellfighter talked about, and am spending much of my time there. I would like to stick with MOB servers, I love the sats, and my friend even inquired about becoming a MOB reg for us (never got a response btw), but reality now dictates that if I want to play Call of Duty, I had to find something else. The Barbarbossa server is overloaded (32 of 32 as I write!), and the Smolensk server is always too empty. C'est la vie I guess. I'll see you when I can get in, but I'm finding fun in other places now.

I share this experience not to be bitchy, but just to make the point that others probably are doing something similar. I mean, they have to be. You used to have two Barbarbossa servers near capactiy every night in prime time, now just one is packed full, and one is empty. That means lots of people having to find fun somewhere else.

Just my thoughts. Please don't shoot me over sharing them!

I'm with you Master of Disaster. I wish you wouldn't think you come across as whining since you are bringing up thoughtful and constructive input- and that's much appreciated .
I think we need the ctf experiment on Smolensk as early as possible. The other server I used to visit to play Smolensk ctf is running at 25-30 players in its peak hours. If you need the server IP/name Druid I'll be happy to pm it to you if you wish to scout its activity. It seems conclusively that folks we have now in Barby and Stock maps won't be migrating back to Smolensk for BA. I think the 45 minute conquest rounds on Smolensk is starting to wear out even the most hardy players too... and as I mentioned before, those lasting 2 full rounds have stamina. In my opnion, ctf will possibly get in a whole new crowd of enthusiasts- as long as rounds are kept short [35 mins].
Give it a trial run please.....
