I think it should go down to 25, and I always have. I know there are guys that really want to get it together with their team and win, but I've always felt that when it comes down to the russian 3 and the german 2 it just gets too boring. Sure, you can have fun messing with people, but why wait around. It's a stalemate. Get them next round, and this time do it right. You just don't need that much time. I never enjoyed the "no time limit" server and I think most maps are too long anyway. I think if you can't get it done in 25 minutes than it's time to move on.
Maybe a shorter time limit would motivate people to get their act together.

I disagree. I dont think many people get arty first round, maybe 3 or 4 guys per team. If more had arty the game would end easily.

I like the 45 minute battles. I think the best part of the game is trying to plant and defuse the last remaining base, and you usually need the extra time to coordinate your noob teammates.

35 mins is far too short. Nothing is ever accomplished other than a draw or a 2-1 win - boring.

For the larger maps like Barbarossa / Smolensk, 35-40 min is probably about right. It takes a bit to get into positions or mount offensives. Sometimes the first assault doesn't go as planned and it's nice to get another half-dozen bites at the apple.

Stalemates have their own unique charm. Can your team keep up defense for 20 minutes to hold that last base? (I've seen G1 held beyond all reasonable hope without the Russians managing to destroy it.) Plus, towards the end of a long round it's fun to play with arty strikes and cause trouble behind enemy lines.

Can't say I mind the quantity of arty available at the end of the 1st round. At a minimum, most players will already have 20 points from the breaching and destruction of all but one of the bases. Arty is a tool that is invaluable in a lot of circumstances (defense, setting up an ambush, softening up defenses). The maps are large enough that it's easy to get away from an arty strike area.

Shorter times will make even the vets go for r2 and g1 first wich surely = stalemate!

that is a really good point, the game on barb would return to its frantic state, and some would even make mistakes...

Longer times mean that I wont join because you are halfway thru the first round and most of the people playing have waaaaaayyyyy too many points, so I'm gonna play stock maps or COD2 because it sucks trying to play barb if you aren't getting in on the beginning of the round to start with, let alone having rounds that last forever.
