hey druid,

i noticed the "weekly" stats get updated everyday but the "overall"'s do not. do you just add all the weekly's onto the overall at the end of the week?

if not, the overall's haven't been updated for cassino for a few days..

not so much anymore, but i did notice it this morning. i don't really care so much because i play Barb and i know i suck ass there and won't get good scores. but since i do still play some cassino too, i take some notice in the stats.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure both are updated at the same time - although Ive never paid close attention to it.

The overall stats updated:

Stat generated by [b]ServerStat V1.0 Build 214 [BES]. Profile: barbossa.ini - 3/22/2006, 6:01:10 AM[/b]

The weekly stats updated:

Stat generated by [b]ServerStat V1.0 Build 214 [BES]. Profile: BarbWeekly.ini - 3/22/2006, 6:50:32 AM[/b]

So I would think the overall stats already include your 'weekly' stats.

I'm in the process of moving to a different stats package.
Currently the database for the overall stats on Cassino is corrupted.
I could rebuild the database but the time involved, it's worth it seeing as how we will be switching in another week.
During this time your stats will be saved & used on the new stats program but will not be undated on the stats page.

In case your curios, here is an example of the new stats using the stock Base Assault server.

Anyone who has ever played with the guy knows that he is the BIGGEST chicken ever to play the game. Check out how many times he has planted or defused. He'll sit in a tank and watch a base blow up because he doesn't want to risk dying. He only plays maps where he can find safe places to hide and will often run from his tank if he takes a single incoming round. Since the stats were reset on Jan 1 he hasn't played a single round of Ponyri because there is no place to hide. With 215 rounds under his belt, he has planted ZERO bases and defused only THREE times. This the highest rated skill player???

That "Skill" rating is going to stir up a lot of controversy! Yikes!

But, Druid, you've made the controversy very, very nice to look at! Cool job on the skin, to say nothing of all the work that went into converting our stats to VSP.

I enjoyed being able to verify my suspicion that Cleaner had indeed been playing under the alias "Obskur." Cross gets the award for most name changes I think. And, it is reassuring for me personally to learn that there are only three people that have killed me more than I've killed them ... WAIT ... one of them is ... TRAVIZZLE!!!! Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!

Have I mentioned that I really like that CodeName guy?? Check my stats to see why.

One down side of the VSP stats package.
The database gets huge ( 75 days worth of stats on the stock server created a 128MB database )
I really wanted to run a set of stats to cover a whole year, with VSP that will not be an option do to the size of the database.
I may end up keeping our current stats package for year-long stats.
Then offer VSP for 3months and weekly stats.

To cut down on the size of the database, the VSP stats I've seen are usually culled after a modest period of inactivity. If a person doesn't play for a set number of days or weeks, they are dropped from the stats. On the other end, new entries aren't listed until a player has completed a set period of rounds. As you can imagine, this would help to keep the database a bit smaller.

Druid, have you experimented with the skillset algorithm? Might be interesting to see what others consider "skill." I know a lot of people consider headshots to be important, and certainly in Base Assault destroying, planting and defusing are vital skills. The skill ratings for each weapon that you employed for the current stats were sensible. Were you able to transfer those rankings into VSP's "skill" algorithm?

VSP enables us to take these skill ratings a step further and weight each weapon by location. Therefore, the skill of shooting someone in the head with a pistol would rank higher than hitting them in the chest:

i dont think ive ever seen trav isle out of a tank.come to think of it ,ive never even seen running to a tank in a spawn.csa uses this exact stats page. very nice!

just checking out the stats page you listed Hamma and it looks pretty good! ~ however my one beef with it is that it appears to keep track of other names used on your ip address (i have a second computer my brother frequently plays on, and he changes his name more often than his clothes, well not really but as you will notice he's got quite few names if you check out my profile...lol). it seems that stat system adds all the aliases to one profile for stats.....comparing my kills/deaths to the one mob currently uses to the one your requesting....now if this is the case, this could cause some friction in my household, not that stats are the reason i play but ah, i like my stats to reflect my play, not everyone who uses this ip....

so i guess my question would be is there a way around this?

looking into it more i realised its not by ip but guid.....which is a little better because now atleast i can restrict him to using the office pc only...

i gotta say, this feature of the stats program is bogus for someone who has others using there computer!

Whoa, that's a whole lot of aliases ... the next time you cross your southern border, Homeland Security will want to speak with you!

There is no easy solution to this problem. Currently, if you change your name (even if it is to color a single character) your stats are split. Obviously, you can overcome that by never, ever changing your name. It must have been a pain for Druid as he was constantly being asked to combine stats when someone became a member and added the MOB tags. At least this will give him a breather from that. Perhaps he can suggest some alternative solution for you.

It will be interesting to hear what Silver and DG have to say about this. They are another example of a fighting duo who will now be sharing stats. The price of marriage, I guess. I don't think Silver ever pays attention to stats, so it is probably a non-issue for them. But, for those of us who are stats-centric, I can see as how this could be a real issue.

I have two nephews who enjoy the game, but I bought them their own copies ... and that was before I knew about the stats issue. Now I'll have to hire armed guards to prevent them from ever playing on my guid.

But, more importantly, did you notice that you and I should never fight against each other? We'd have MUCH better stats if we hadn't spend so much time killing one another! Time to declare a truce!
