Timing is everything in CoD..., Also, the Goosedown philosophy Options

Barb, last night (Sunday). Me, Goose, NoClass, Capt Ron, and Flatliner on Vent, on German.



Game one. A stiff draw....each side only planted one base.



So me and Goosedown argue about the merits of planting Russian 2 early. "Fine fine" I say. "Let's go for 2 first this game" I say. Just to prove how crazy it was IMO.



Alright! Action. But instead of getting 2 first, we actually get 1 on a NoClass plant. How does that happen? You plan to take the easy base first, and get a tougher base first! Oh well! Good enough.

Next we do drop 2! Looking at the stats, the guy who did it, Wingman, was 0-9 for the game. Ahh, that's why I like base assult. Even when you have a bad game, you can still contribute!



So now we have done the "Goosedown philosophy", taken whatever base we can get. Now we're stuck trying to take down R3. Almost impossible against a tough team. I get in another firefight. BOOM. HEADSHOT. I'm dead. Great. Just great.



"I'm dead again" I tell Noclass in disgust.

"I'm rolling in to 3!!!! Can you get on the pak!"

"Umm, yeah! On my way!"



Noclass and Wingman race up to R3 in a jeep and dash for the door. Wingman gets taken out by the rear pak. Poor bugger, but damn fine sacrifice! Noclass races down the steps into 3, drops his artillery, and starts planting!



NC - "I'm planting. Get on that damn pak!"

MoD - "I'm running I'm running!" Pistol up, sprinting all I can I race for the middle pak. Plant is complete, but Noclass is under heavy fire.



NC - "They're throwing gernades in!"



I aim my shot, and open fire! BOOM. One guy down. BOOM! Another.



NC - "Great shot. Keep it up! Oh geez, there's gernades everywhere!" Noclass tries to dance, but you can't tango with a gernade. He pulls up his satchel just as the gernades drop him. There's still 40 seconds they have to defuse, and my pak shots may be all that's holding them back! I hold down the fire, looking at a Russian at the river in front of me, praying he doesn't start coming at me and force me to come off my shot. But then another German teammate spots him, battles him 1-on-1 and mows him down! Yes! I press my mouse button a little harder.

Meanwhile, NC has spawned in one. he jumps out, breaks his ankle, and jumps in the half truck.

NC - "I'm coming with a half truck to block you."

MoD - "Yeah yeah! Do that!"



NC rumbles towards me with his half truck. I'm getting no kills. "Is my shot not right on" I wonder? It looks OK. I just keep praying. Time ticks slowly, but we're getting close. A shell comes over the horizon! Boom! I'm down to 1/4 health. I prepare for death, hoping to squeeze one more shell off. THEN NC's half truck speeds in front of me! BOOM! His truck takes the next shot. I fire! Boom! 2 Ruskkies die at 3! BOOM! NC's half truck explodes, he's dead, but I'm still alive. FIRE! BOOM! 3 Ruskies drop dead! I fire a couple more shots and tick, tock, tick tock, times up, they have no time to defuse! I even get off the pak before NC's blown half truck kills me! We win! YES!!!!!!



And in the end we prove the Goosedown philosophy can actually sometimes work!



Anyway, just another decription of a game with a great ending. I mean, this is what the clan is really all about. Playing COD and getting one of those games where it all comes together. The timing of NoClass getting to me with the half truck was unreal!



Talking with NoClass afterward (we chat on the phone with each other as well as on Vent), we think Capt. Ron's artillery was keeping them from going in during the stretch after Noclass died and my pak wasn't getting kills. Just more excellent teamwork! Just one game, but one of the ones you remember! See you all on the battlefield!

Was i around then? I remember being in a game where it was like 6 {MOB} on one side while fish and i on the other...but i dont remember that game. Oh well, i prolly wasnt there, fun story though. I still choose not to take Goosedowns words of wisdom to heart since well...for about 3 weeks he kept calling me a girl...

I have the feeling I was playing during this game last night... unfortunately I was on the wrong end of things. I was one of MoD's many victims that he oh so cruelly 'paked' from long range in a last ditch effort to defuse.

What he may not know: is that I had parked the ice cream truck in front of our base to partially block his incoming fire, and was nearly entirely down the stairs and on my way to defuse when one of his shells killed me! You're all quite lucky I'm without a microphone/vent, as I was cursing something fierce.

Oh, and it was 6 MOB's against me and my crew. Don't think we ever really had a chance.

Yes, you were among the last "3" I got.

If you were on Vent, you probably would have been on our team!

Nice try with the turnip truck. Glad it failed though. Woulda ruined my story.

canuck you go on vent? and i agree, Goose's philosophy is the only way to go. He would always let me on on his "secret" plan A and plan B for barb that he and thomas would always take.

This only happened because nobody killed you on the pak. It is of equal importance to kill the pak cover guy as to run home and defuse! (Why am I saying this - lol)

Ahh, but maybe you missed the point of the story. Someone tried from your pak, and would have got me in time too, except NoClass blocked your shot at the last second with a half truck, allowing me to get a couple more key shots off. As I say, timing is everything.

But you need two shots from that pak, behind R3. With the Russian center front pak it takes only one shot to kill the German center pak.



So the Russian center front pak is maybe the most important spot on the map. It gives pak cover when planting in all German bases and kills the German center pak and the pak by G3.
