FK's unpure Spearhead?, FK may turn off sv_pure on certain days! Options

When I was in the server today FK stated he was thinking about having non-pure server days to get some fresh meat into the grinder. He stated that there were just not enough players able to get in. I personally would love for more people to play on the server, it can get boring waiting for a few buddies to log on and play just when you have the yearning for a blood bath! Only one concern though... some of the .pk3 hacks would still get through. So my question to FK and all of you is:

**Since there is no sv_pure running, ((could(should?)) we have a way to vote on a kick of a player?**

Just a thought. I mean it is a majority ruling, so it would not be prejiduced. Most of us "talk" to each other in game as-is, and are pretty friendly so I am sure it would not get out of hand. Keep in mind I am not suggesting voting on anything else like maps, etc. That would just ruin it.

That was pretty much the only thing that concerned me. When I had my own MOHAA clansite, I had a page we called "Cheaters Corner". It was screenshots of obvious cheats, i.e. aiming through walls. But the only thing that kept them out was an autokicker. Worked as long as they kept the same IP or name.

In Spearhead you can vote to kick a player (duh, right?). If that player cheats repeatedly and keeps getting kicked by the players he/she is cheating against, it may stop them from cheating. Or at least keep them from coming onto the server again, thinking they will keep getting kicked for it.

What do you all think?

I don't know if that's such a good idea. I've seen voting get abused pretty badly on other servers, and I don't see why this server would be any different. Particularly the way we seem to have a few folks who get downright pissed when people don't play the way they feel they should.

It's not a far jump for the people that complain constantly and loudly because somebody is playing a different style, and them abusing the voting privilege. While the person may not get voted off, the next thing that'll be happening is "spam voting" because somebody's camping, and it ticked somebody off. What could be worse, though, is that maybe somebody could get voted off, and they weren't cheating.

I think there are pro's and con's to both having it and not.
I agree nothing is worse than a cheater playing, and nobody can do anything about it. I would be afraid of that happening, if there is a cheater there and I am playing, I will most likely leave because it frustrates the hell out of me. As for the abuse of the voting, that would be fairly easy to fix... if someone is abusing the voting system, they get booted.. Most of us know each other in there and I am sure that most of us are civil enough not to be dick's about it.

But ultimately it is up to FK, after all it is his server right ?

I like pure and it would make since that other people would like to play on an even playing field, its just a little work reinstalling the games. Hopefully more people will take the time and do it, so they can play on FK's server also. We need more compatition.

Here's my 2 cents:

First. to get more people on the server, the website address needs to be in the description on gamespy so as to inform people of why their getting booted and how to properly get maps and what not. It is all in how you market the site and advertising makes the biggest difference.

Most people just see the server, try to log on cause it says NEW maps, then go somewhere else once they get kicked. They dont get what's the difference between FK's server and the big cattle servers that are just on with no admins or anything.

Second, PURE is a great idea and really makes for a better style of gameplay----->one with actual skill! It is hard enough to kill Smoke, Zieldog, etc. with pure on, letting people use hacks just makes it not fun!

Thats a great idea Sig. It's just a matter of people having access to the help section if they need it. Putting that on the bar on Gamespy or through the game itself would get more people in the right direction. I think alot of the drop off was due to the last map rotation and the couple maps that ran really bad. I've seen the room full and we hit a bad map and the player count drops to nearly nothing. We'll get it built back up, just might take some time. Stick it out for a while and it'll get better.

Bogart I see where you are coming from now that it is said. Voting someone off for cheating when they were not would be frustrating for them. I am sure every one here has been accussed of cheating a few times, especially if you are a good player. I was just trying to think of another way to keep cheating down to a minimum, while still having "some" control over the cheaters.

I personally do not, will not think about using gamespy. As to the fact that the name of the server could point to the downloads site for the maps would be a very good idea though. That alone could get our numbers back up, most people don't realize that you have to get the maps and install them. Not just load up and play. (like CS) In fact I think the old title to the server had a "downlaod at www.mobclan.com" line in it if I am not mistaken.

Gotta go with Nixon and Smoke on this one. Though, admittedly this is my busy season with Catering and such so I haven't been around as much. Is the server really that quiet? Because I would rather put up with waiting a few minutes for some of you guys to show up than be given the power to vote anyone off the server - too many of you piss me off, lol. Seriosly - JUST SAY NO TO VOTING!
And as for getting more people on the server - maybe FK needs a website. One with screenshots of new maps and an explanation if the benefits of pure. Dunno, my 2 cents, (which is really only like 1.3 cents American - though it can buy way better beer - so who's really worse off, lol)

I also hate the fact that there are not as many people playing at times as you may like but....I admin two other servers and the cheating out there is way, way, way out of control.

I can go on at any time of the day and find cheaters, and more than one at that.

To be honest, that is what has driven me away from AA and to SH. Personally I like the gameplay of AA much better, but the cheating is too much.
