Love the mods with the grenades and satchels. The firey explosion are very good ( and painful).
PLEASE PLEASE do away with the spawn protection. What happened to "spawn killing happens, get over it!" ? To many people whine about it and use it as an excuse for losing. It happens to all of us. I just move on. There is something satisfying about blowing up a group of people (as per the other post on violence in video games). -------------------- MY EYES, THE GOGLES DO NOTHING!!

Yes, I turned on 5 seconds of spawn protection this morning. Slews of people have constantly begged for it, and I finally gave in.
It doesn't seem to have changed things all that much. I am still seeing guys spawn and stay in one spot til their 5 seconds are up, and then boom, they get spawn-killed, lol. But at least this little bit of protection allows a smart/good player a chance to get out of the spawn area. It's simply no fun to get spawn camped and slaughtered. We who've played MWCM all these months have tasted it from both sides. But MWCM had become a spawn camper's paradise -- those over-100 scores were mostly about guys who know the maps VERY well simply relocating from spawn to spawn and slaughtering. What's the sport or skill in that? I figured 5 seconds of protection gives everyone a chance. I'm also hoping it will take some of the heat off of the server. Now that it is a {MOB} server, the language and tempers need to cool down a bit. The extreme language needs to stop, the rants and vicious anger. I think the spawn protection is a good start towards this end. And hey, if it doesn't work out, no problem, I'll set it back to no spawn protection. I know this was clarified already but I really feel I need to add my 2cents. I have been playing MWCM for what I consider a long time now (at least 1 year mabye more) and I was really surprised to see the new mods I do not consider myself a habitual spawnkiller but I have to say I have done it (on this map only) I really did not care when people did it to me I just considered it part of the game. I really liked the fact that MWCM was a real free-for-all no rules no restrictions but still took real skill to rack up good scores. One thing I was really surprised to see and tell me if this is also a new feature of MWCM was seeing people say "watch your mouth" now I do not think it's necesary to curse all the time especially when writing but sometimes you really need to use certain words to get your point across really, in this game we are violently killing people a frew curses are the least of our worries and this was another feature I loved ab. MWCM nonne said "our kids play here watch your language" i defer to my previous statement about cursing on this. well, I guess I need to wrap this up so I guess my main point is that this is probably the only TDM server I play and I loved it the way it was and I know things change but I really don't like these changes.

Sorry Steel I didn't know that it was still you handling the server till after my last post. I have been staying away for a while since my computer situation we discussed in the earlier website but I now have a new computer with 2gigs of ram and a good graphics card so I'm putting up numbers like I used to with the lap-top we talked about previously. I just wanted to say I'm happy to see you are still around and thanks for all the help you tried to give in the past with my crappy computer.

Lase, I've changed MWCM a lot over time. If you remember, when I started it, everybody got artillery at the beginning of a map and my weapons mod had a souped-up MAC11. After enough time, people got tired of artillery always being on and also once people got good with the MAC11, that's all that anybody used. Remember the map mp_thelibrary? It was totally both sides spawn camping, lol. It got old, so I changed it, and etc, etc. So, there have been many changes since the beginning of the server.
As for language, when I started the server, it was intended for players over 25. So, cursing was fine, no little kids were supposed to be there. However, now this server is part of the {MOB} clan, a family-clan, and there are people here of all ages, even very little children play on the {MOB} servers. Plus, it is {MOB} server rules that ask that we refrain from bad language. No one is going to get upset for a little bad word here and there. But MWCM has gotten downright trashy. It just needs a little cleanup, a little civility, not a complete whitewash, lol. And of course, I have always kicked/banned for racial slurs, personal attacks, and cheating. But come to think of it Lase, I can't recall ever thinking you were close to getting kicked/banned for anything, you've always been a great player and fun to play with. Give the spawn protection a try and see if it ruins your game as much as you think it will. It sure ought to shut-up the whiners, 'cause they have 5 seconds to get the heck outta their spawn! LOL! I have got to tell you I just got off of wreck2 actually kicked off (everyone else was too something you did I'm sure lol) and I think I might grow to like the spawn protection at least on that map because there it (spawnkilling) really got out of hand some people had throwing satchels on spawns down to a real art form but I really feel the need to curse at the people who do nothing but sit/camp in windows or doorways and pick people off as they go by but one thing on that I have found the best solution to that is to sneak up and bash them if I don't rank high in bashes on the next stats page I will be surprised

Glad to hear it (that you might grow to like the spawn prot), thanks. Oooh, future bash king -- bring it on! LOL!
As for the server restarting, no, that's not me doing it, it's the server company. I've been able to determine that they've restarted the whole server box twice today. They've been working on the gamepanel (the control panel for the servers), which requires restarting the server box after each change. Sure hope they'll be done fiddling with it soon. The bad thing is they're not letting us know when they're going to restart the box. I wish they would, so I could jump into the server and let everyone know. Sorry. -------------------- [img][/img]

I do remember the old days of constant arty and the MAC11's. The arty made me insane but it was still a blast. I know times are changing but how about reducing the spawn protection to 2-3 seconds instead of 5. That gives us good players time to move and the slow ones time to die. I dont spawn camp and rape but every once in awhile its nice to throw a random satchel and get 5 or 6 bodies. I really like the firey grenades to. They look so good! Did you make any changes to any of the other weapons? LASE, good to see you back. I have not seen you on the server in a while. McBain -------------------- MY EYES, THE GOGLES DO NOTHING!!

I'll seriously consider reducing the spawn protection to 3 seconds. But probably, it'll either be on or off. I just want to see how it works out a few more days.
There are two changes in this version of the mod: the fiery grenades and also that you get TNT after 30 points... makes nice big booms, LOL! Oh Lase -- glad to hear you got a new computer. Nice work, as usual, with the server Steel.
First: I thank you for killing the Arty at startup. It gave me a headache after 30 minutes. LoL. Second: I have come to know the spawn points and gave and recieved as part of the game. However, it was getting a little boring and "where's the skill" as you put it. I was also afraid it would drive away newbies to the servers. So I'm for a short protection. Third: I suprised to hear about the language. I have never seen any problem, much less any talking at all, when I've been on. Maybe if I took my tags off I'd see what really happens. Nope the lptops gone but my new computer is faster than that was. So the new question on an old issue what is with the air-burtst artillery on some maps?? namely wreck, nuenen, and harbor it really sucks to get arty and risk your life to use it only for it to go off in the air it gets to the point where i really don't use it on those maps is that the point because I can see it with wreck and harbor being so small but nuenen?? (I hope thats the right name) that map is huge.

Ah, it's about the map design, that these were designed to run with cod and not coduo. It's about the sky, that the map designer made the sky a solid object hanging above the map, instead of being attached to the ground.
Any map that doesn't have the sky attached to the ground will have the artillery hit the solid sky object up in the air, instead of making it all the way to the ground. It would be great to have maps that everyone likes, that run fine with the mods, and that also artillery works on. It's tough to find them. Snot Rocket - I don't remember you playing on Modern Weapons Custom Maps back when artillery was on for everyone from the beginning of a map and I had the MAC11's. It's been nearly a year since I had it that way. Were you using a different name? And you haven't seen any bad language? Whoa, you sure you're on the right server? Spawn protection bothers me when I am moving towards or thru a spot and someone spawns on my approach. I can't kill them but they get first shot on me. Other than that I have no issues. I would say turn it off. Yeah, I remember germans in wreck2 lying on the ground in the rubble behind the american spawn point and getting 30 kills in a row, now that did suck. Funny thing, I had a player yesterday around noon (name was like masterblaster or something blaster) complaining to me constantly because I shot him out of the sky on the Harbor map when he parachuted in. He was calling me a spawn killer. LOL. I asked him if he played this server much and he said ya. I then said people kill parachuters all the time normally and nothing is ever said so get over it. I then proceded to kick his arse.
He was still bitching about it half an hour later. Then he didn't like the fact that I was running around with my sniper rifle - one shot killing him all the time and started complaining about that. I was beginning to wonder why he was even playing the game. I finally got tired of his complaining and stopped reading. -------------------- ![]() |
