Does anyone own one of these things... just got mine today and although I love the feel and accuracy I can't seem to set up the buttons the way I want and COD/UO doesn't see the extra keys. I would appreciate if someone could join me on vent and walk me though the setup of the buttons.
The book says that it is highly programmable in many games, but I'll be damned if I can figure it out. The thing I miss the most is starting windows explorer on the center wheel button. I work all day looking for files and such and it is damn annoying not to be able to start something so simple at the touch of one button. -------------------- |

Use the Logitec mouse utility to map the buttons you want to use to a key rather than trying to map in within the COD game. For example, if you want the left thumb button to select granades, then assign that button the G key (assuming the G key is still your default granade key). Old Man Mike |

GIJoe,
You should use your old mouse.... the one that doesn't work, it's wayyyyy better. BTW you might as well send me the G5 mouse. It would go great with my G15 Keyboard...LOL T/A6Pak -------------------- ![]() Signature designed by Old Man Mike Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. ![]() |

GIJoe, i have a G5 also and it is alot more resposive compared to my old mouse, dont feel bad, you are not the only one that has not figured out all of the button assignments. i have most of them done but i am still tinkering with it. once you get it figured out you will love it. i have my dpi settings at 400-600-800-1000-1800. i found out that while in a game the higher settings are not useable to me anyway as they are way to fast. i usually play with either the 400-600-800 settings and the surf the web with the higher settings. hope this helps.

Well you need setpoint for the game binds and I think you can use windowskey+e for windows explorer or you can set setpoint to do the same, try 1600 dpi and slowly move it up it helps, as for the weigh I use 6 of the 1.7 gram weight its about the same as the battery of the G7, my dumbass bought the G-7 and Then the G-5 lol, and ALLSOP makes a nice pad that works well with it.

I had a laser mouse (not G5) and I personally found it TOO sensitive. I couldn't pinpoint my crosshairs on anything.
Just my own 2 cents. Hope you have good luck with it. -------------------- ![]() "Difficulties come and they pass, but it is a shame that sometimes these difficulties must pass like diarrhea" |

I have a G5 but can't set it up for COD2MP or COD:UO only for all programs any idea why????
For example if I change my thumb assignment (currently back button for internet) then when not in COD then it no longer has back function. Any help would be great. Thanks, -------------------- ![]() |

Old man Mike got it right... use setpoint to assign the buttons to a k/b key... that way you don't have to worry about a program like COD/UO seeing the mouse buttons... you are essentially binding the button to a key... then assign the key in the options menu of COD.. presto... it works!!!
BTW Setpoint has to be set to start at boot up to make the binding permanent... I don't like having all these "extra" programs all running at startup, so I only run it when I am playing a game that needs it and close it out afterward... but that's me Hope this helps...GIJOE -------------------- |

After learning that a lot of the folks are using the G5 mouse and the G15 keyboard, I bought both.
After a week using both I have put the G5 back in the box! I prefer my Logitech marble mouse a whole lot more, it is much smooter, quicker to put my cross hairs on target and much less hand fatique after playing for several hours of hard fighting. Several players and especially Abuse helped me set it up properly and I really appreciate their helpful attitudes. Now as for the G15 keyboard, I really like it, however I have no clue on to how to set up and use of all the extra "G" buttons. Any suggestions? -------------------- ![]() "Fight Alone... YOU... I prefer the logitech mx518 there are more buttons to do thingies with. I rarely use the slow down function, but it does help sometimes. it also has a forward and backward button on the side for internet use, which I use for a talk key in vent. I also use a zboard. I is a combination of the game pady style with a regualr keyboard. Some glitches anger me, like sometimes it is not recognized, but it is a VERY comfortable and programmable tool..
as you can see by my play they make no difference, but the do help. and are cheaper... total together was around 80 bucks. |

I too use the Logitech MX518 gaming mouse. I love the contour fit and the buttons are spaced perfectly. Programmability adds to the functionality and performance and my hand never feels tired after gaming all afternoon. Quite a comfortable mouse actually.
The basic differences between the G5 and the MX518 appear to be the 2000dpi (the 518 has 1600 dpi) and the thumb buttons (the 518 has two). Otherwise not a great deal of difference. Maybe price? Anyway, both seem to be quite acceptable choices. |
