For those who have lived under a rock for the past few years and don't know what Firefox is, check it out.
I use Firefox on two machines, each one has Linux and Windows installed, which gives me four separate sets of bookmarks. I have tried different extensions for syncing my bookmarks up, and up until now none of them have worked very well. Today I happened to stumble across one called Foxmarks. This is by far the best one I've used. I have been able to sync my bookmarks up across all my browsers on both machines and OS's. You can choose to combine your current bookmarks with the bookmarks you have on the server, delete the current bookmarks you have and download the bookmarks file stored on the server, or delete the bookmarks on the server and upload the bookmarks you have to the server. Just beware that this extension is still in development, so be sure to back up your bookmarks semi-frequently just in case something gets hosed up (you should back up your bookmarks pretty frequently anyways, so this shouldn't really be a problem.) About ten minutes after I found Foxmarks, I came across Google Browser Sync. This one is more feature rich, as it will sync all your browser settings, including bookmarks, cookies, and saved passwords. I have not used this one yet, but do plan to try it out eventually. If someone wants to give this one a try and let me know how it works, that would be great. Hopefully this will help someone out who, like me, was searching for a reliable way to sync bookmarks in Firefox across multiple platforms. After using Foxmarks for a bit, I discovered it did have a few kinks. I never lost any bookmarks, but for some reason they were duplicated. I have since switched over to Google Browser Sync, and have been much happier with the performance of that. I would now recommend that one over Foxmarks.
