i chose this link as it gives a good overview of how many serving in Afghanistan reminding some of the worst the creeps of this world that goodwill to all will prevail.
Yes the French are there too [on that note, have a kind regard for the French soldier....]

-> if controversial issues/foreign policies are raised by the French government. and battles in the past are lost by poor military decisions by French generals or facing a superior enemy army, don't let it reflect on French soldiers who signed up to put their lives on the line for country. You need only look throughout their military history to see rank and file aren't cowards in battle [as Gauls vs.Romans/Hastings/Crecy/American revolution/Napoleonic Wars/Foreign Legion/slaughterd in WW1 attacks/WW2 Resistance and recapturing Paris.
