thought id start a thread on movies , i watch alot of them and wonder what other people think. recently i saw a movie that i thought was awesome ,not just because it was a true story but i think because i remember turning on the tv and watched a documentary right after it happend.
i watched INTO THE WILD ,in this movie a very well to do,intelligent young kid who just graduted college with all As decides to completely drop out of society, cuts up his ss card ,license etc.. and walks the earth. i have to say ,coming from a guy who traveled the us by car 3 times surfing snow boarding and rock climbing,it really makes me think of another side of life altogether, just wondering if any one has seen it and your opinions on the movie. this was sean penns second film as director and as the last,i thought this film to be outstanding! OK OK!
Seriously. Cloverfield in the theater on opening day was awesome. IF you can realize what type of movie it was. I will leave it at that. Hitman was a passion in gaming of mine (I was originally on {MOB} servers as agent 47, and the movie was not all that dissapointing. Rocky Balboa BLEW. Meet the Spartans lasted 4 minutes for me. I turned it off... oops, did I say I was not in the theater to see it... um. This guy gave me a site... and...um Saw 4 was tricky and interesting... I refuse to go see any sappy movies, so all of the chicky flickies are out. If it has the word rose, or bridge, or timeless, or longing, or whatever I am not going to go. Unless the movie is titled "Timeless Death on Rose Bridge with THe dying longing for death and velociraptors...." or something, I am not going. I don't want to pay 20 bucks to show my wife and on screen version of what I am SUPPOSED to do in life. I dont ask her to look at my avatars...ok, so what if I do. I glue them to the insides of her glasses. Simpsons movie ruled.... 300 was as expected ( i just watched it tonight for the 1st time) I kablooied it onto my psp, I effing rock. Best movie ever, The Godfather (go figure) I watch it once a week, in homage to my signature, which is now a tatoo on my back.... |

cloverfield made me sick from watching them run with the cam.hitman was cool but was missing something, the guy who played 47 fit the profile but everytime he spoke threw me off, maybe just me."in the name of the father "-awesome!
for those who wonder,i work for a builder and we are very busy .although i have reports to fill out constantly all day long and multiple tasks to fill my time while showing models ,writing contracts and endless phone tag,the fact remains im in an office all alone from 930 to 6,so i started watching movies ,it helps me .ive seen so many movies i thought id start posting on them,i watch them at a site and forums that is very much like our forums . the last movie i saw today was the jesse james movie (brad pitt) the name is so long i cant remember. i thought it was good ,got lost a bit but i still was compelled to google his life line. there was alot i didnt know about him ,was good ! oh,by the way flat,300 was awesome! i saw it in the theatre and even my wife ,who literally falls a sleep in every movie ,was blown away, very good movie. I used to enjoy the game Hitman, I wasn't really impressed with the movie.. I was expecting a better ending.

i found it to be rushed. here we have a game that sold ,what , a billion copies and hollywood rushes the movie.i think they shouldve spent a bit more on him as an asassin. i totally agree.
my movie of the day is of a series ive watched since i dont even know when .before i say the name im going to say this ,these movies have grown tired and all along i was wondering when they would actually be true to the novels . im talking about James Bond and the recent Casino royal . now ive read a few of the novels and seen every movie many times and these are my thoughts..... the novels portray bond being a total dick ,drunk and user ,he uses every bad trait there is ,including being a killer and doesnt trust anyone -BUT ITS BECAUSE OF ONE REASON .if you watch the first connery film ,for that era ,he kinda portrays this but through the roles i think the sweetend him up a bit,he then quit. all in all it wasnt the true bond, maybe actor wise but not script wise .then you get roger moore -same thing but 70s -80s style then bond all together gets ho hum and here we are today(lets not even say pierce).the last few movies bored me,uhg, and as a true fan for the first time i didnt rush to go see the next bond film "casino royal" because i thought it would be like the last flops . so im bored ,i watch it. not only in my opinion is this the best actor to play james bond to date ,it was the best james bond movie as well.this movie followed the very first novel to a tee ,although altered quite a bit,but they got the same point across.im thinking with the great success of Jason bourne ,the creator of the bond movies knew it was a time for a complete make over. although bond is dressed in a tux when he gets into a fight ,its a brutal one and hes bloody and beat up after ,shaking and drinkng scotch afterwards.laying in bed with a women he leaves her to follow the mission, totally different than the bond of the past. they left it open for the next and its being shot as we speak. i can say i was extremely impressed with this one, they restarted and recreated bond, expect to see a more novel ,007 in the future! my highest recomendations, this is the true Bond! One of the greatest. No doubt about it. The depth charge attack by the British detroyer was one of the most intense moments ever in a war film.
This brings up another whole topic. We have debated the best war films but what about the best battle scenes in a movie. I'll take a shot at it first: 1st) Saving Private Ryan: Normandy Beach Invasion scene 2nd) LOTR: Battle at Helms Deep 3rd) Star Wars: Attack on the Death Star Those are moments I will never forget. There's got to be many more. Let's hear'em. This post has been edited by Cpt. Snot Rocket: 02/16/08 8:35pm -------------------- |

i thought the attempt to remake this movie (u571) was horrible and they should be ashemed ,thats like remaking private ryan-cheaply.
i like your top three.star wars was the first movie i ever saw in the theatre . lotr was just awesome but saving private ryan seriously effected me ,even to this day. one that i think has to be in there is braveheart, once again its a movie ive seen time and time again . -------------------- ![]() |

There's got to be many more. Let's hear'em. I'll agree on your picks there Mr.Rocket. Usually I find battle scenes made too 'slick' and dramatic by directors and failing to bring the horror of war in horrble style.... especially when you've looked at censored war photos of war victims and seen 'similar' real accounts of scenes. So my faves include Saving Private Ryan with its ton of 'realism' scenes -but the stand out moment for me was on the beach assault when Hanks is speaking with a radio operator one moment and turns to him a moment later to see his faced caved in by a shell. The Star Wars Death Star attack has a new meaning for me now as I just saw a recent documentary on the amazing Brits. torpedo attack with bi-planes [!] on the mighty German battleship 'Bismark'. The LOTR Helms Deep scene that stands out for me is where the urukais are packed on the gate ramp and then their battering ram crew plough through them sending dozens of them dropping off the edge off the high ramp. LOL, I actually felt sorry for them Being someone interested in musket/cannon wars, I also liked the well re-enacted battle scenes in the latest 'Alamo' movie.
