Formed in Tampa, Florida, USA in 1974, the Outlaws comprised Billy Jones (guitar), Henry Paul (guitar), Hugh Thomasson (guitar), Monte Yoho (drums) and Frank O'Keefe (bass) - Composer, they were respected by fans (if not critics) for a strong stage presentation and artistic consistency which hinged on an unreconstructed mixture of salient points from the Eagles, Allman Brothers Band and similarly guitar-dominated, denim-clad acts of the 70s.

The first signing to Arista Records, their 1975 debut album - produced by Paul A. Rothchild - reached number 13 in Billboard's chart. The set included the riveting lengthy guitar battle "Green Grass And High Tides" Singles success with "There Goes Another Love Song" and "Lady In Waiting'. Following modest success with four albums by the Henry Paul Band, its leader rejoined Thomasson in a brief reformation of the Outlaws, issuing Soldiers Of Fortune in 1986. Thomasson went on to join the re-formed Lynyrd Skynyrd in the mid-90s, while Paul formed the highly successful Blackhawk.
