I overheard my boss yelling at somebody the other day on the phone. They didn't like the way something needed to be done so he told them, "So you don't like it, give me an alternative."

Well...

In regards to our current war on terrorism.

The first thing I would do is repeal the law that forbids the use of military force to patrol our borders. I can't recall the name of the law, but it looks like it's usefullness has been outlived. I would station military towers every 1/8 mile along the Mexico/US and Canada/US borders. Our borders are so pourous that the entire country of Iran could come through Mexico into Texas wearing ponchos and nobody would say a word.

The second thing I would do is repeal the executive order outlawing Assasination as a weapon in defense of the country. I would make an assasination order the product of a board consisting of the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State, Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs, head of the CIA, and both the President and Vice President. We know who is responsible, let's hunt them down and kill them.

Any other suggestions?

I do agree with the border patrol idea. We are too easy going about who we're letting into this country, thats why we're in such danger of future attacks. We dont know who could be here living in the US planning an attack.

In Fahrenhiet 9/11 Moore shows us how there are like 200 miles of oregon coastline guarded by ONE trooper with no weapon who works part time.

I don't think there is a law forbidding military force from patrolling our borders, they have in limited numbers several times over the years.
The only law I know of is Posse Comitatus which forbids them from carrying out general law enforcement duties except under special circumstance like martial law during a state of emergency.
I'm not sure if I would want the military directly involved with border patrols.
I would rather see them add more people and supply them with high tech gear.
I know boarder agents are already paid very well.
Patrolling our boarder isn't part of military training and it's not what they are for.
Here is a quote from on of my favorite books explaining what war and soliders are.
"War is not violence and killing, pure and simple; war is controlled violence, for a purpose. The purpose of war is to support your government’s decisions by force. The purpose is never to kill the enemy just to be killing him . . . but to make him do what you want him to do. Not killing . . . but controlled and purposeful violence. It’s never a soldier’s business to decide when or where or how — or why — he fights; that belongs to the statesmen and the generals. The statesmen decide why and how much; the generals take it from there and tell us where and when and how. We supply the violence; other people — ‘older and wiser heads,’ as they say — supply the control. "
It may sound corny but I think it;s very accurate.

The biggest thing I would change is do away with the stupid political correctness.
We were attacked by Arabs, why the hell does airport security have to do random checks of every 80 grandmother?
No one wants to talk about racial or ethnic profiling but it's a valid tool to use.

I agree 100% Druid but I don't think it's political correctness that is keeping us from searching all Middle Eastern people passing through our airports, it's the 3rd and 4th amendments to the constitution, reinforced by the morons at the ACLU.

I read a story at theonion.com a while back, the headline was, "ACLU fights to protect rights of Klansmen to burn down ACLU building." (or something like that). I almost fell out my chair I was laughing so hard.

actually i think they are paid less then 30 a year, more like 26. and they only have to have a high school dip. thatsa what they were a few years ago. and i think that they are almost allways placed in the mex border. i know here in buffalo that the border agents have tripled and the tech they have has growen 100 full since 9-11. i live around the corner from them. smile.gif plz dont quote me on this stuff.
