Man, I can't believe what I just went through with Missionay. Black Bart was kind enough to get me through it, but he wasn't real specific about what caused the problem I was having. I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this issue and especially give me a heads up on how to avoid this from happening again:
When you click the Missionary desktop icon, it first goes to a screen with the soldiers. In the lower right hand corner of that screen are white numbers that cycle up to 29 as it loads the program. Mine would only go to 4.1 -- stop -- and then send me to the main menu screen where you make all the selections. However, the Windows hourglass would not go away and I couldn't start AA (you know, you usually get the white crosshairs as you pass over and start AA with - but not in this case). We went through 7 or 8 emails and finally a personal conversation before he resolved the issue as Missionay being "locked up." He sent me a link to a program to run that un-locks it -- but warned me that that program would only work a couple of times on a computer before it's ineffective and advised me to toss the link and not save the program so that I wouldn't be tempted to use it again. So, naturally, I'm asking for any suggestions as to what may have caused this and how to avoid it again in the future. |
