Spearhead Log In message, "You do not have a valid CD-Key" Options

I have purchased both MOHAA and MOHAA Spearhead. I have also installed the updates for each game. I have also installed the crack for not having to have your game CD in the Drive.

What is the exaxt problem of logging on to servers and getting the error message "You do not have a valid CD - Key".

Is there a way to correct the problem??????

that is a known problem with SH...I am not sure if their are any fixes for that right now...I know there were a few threads going at AA.com on that subject, I will check into it and let you know if I can dig up anything

You are probably running a nvidia graphics card if so. Read below.

When attempting to install Spearhead an error occurs with the title of "Severe". The error states "The registration number was not correct."
This error is caused by a conflict with a background process called rundll32.exe. This process is most commonly started by Nview a program that comes with Nvidia video drivers after version 28.32. To resolve the trouble download and install the latest video driver from Nvidia starting at version 41.09. To do this:
1. Go to www.nvidia.com and click on the Download Drivers button at the top of the screen.
2. Select Graphics Driver from the First Box.
3. Select Geforce and TNT from the Second Box.
4. Select your Operating System from the Third Box and click Go.
5. Download the driver from the Primary Download site being sure to Save the file somewhere you will remember (i.e. Desktop or My Documents)
6. Once the Download is complete double click on the file from the saved location and follow the steps on screen.

***Alternate Solution for People with or without Nvidia Video Cards***

To resolve the trouble make sure no instances of Rundll32.exe are running. Follow the stesp below that are appropriate for your operating system:

Windows 95/98/ME:
Hold the Ctrl and Alt keys down at the same time and hit the Del key once. This will in turn bring up a window called "close programs". The only two applications that you want listed here before installing the game are "explorer" and "systray". Close all other programs by double-clicking on them. You will need to repeat this process after closing each application. Note that some applications may take multiple times before closing. Don't worry that you are permanently changing your system configuration; these applications will return when you restart your system.

Windows XP:
Hold down the Ctrl, Atl, and Delete keys at the same time This will bring up the "Task Manager", follow the steps below in order:
1) Click the "Processes"
2) Click on the User Name button to sort by user name
3) Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names. Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE.
4) Click on END PROCESS
5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile.

If you experience lock ups when trying to disable rundll32.exe using the Ctrl Alt Del method, temporarily disable it using msconfig from the run command. Restart your computer, install spearhead then you can enable it again.

Lang Tran - I do have the CD in the drive. However, I do have two drives (CD and DVD) in my computer. I will try both. Thanks.

Johnzillah - The intallation of the game and playing the game on some servers is no problem. Only a few of the servers have given me the error message. However, I will check to see if the rundll32.exe file is running in the background since I did upgrade my graphics to a ATI Radeion 9000. Thanks for the detailed

I cant get mine to conenct to hardly any. Tried a lot of the fixes..but until SH development team fixes this...might I suggest the bypass until then. I read about it at mohadmin..some have there SH servers up and running as usual with this. Or..just wait..either way
