 Close a COD:UO server to run another COD2 server? |

As more and more MOB members are getting COD2, there has been growing amount of request to open another COD2 server running a different game type.
The only problem with this is, the dedicated box which runs our servers is at it's limit. Right now we are guaranteed lag free servers, adding another game server will likely cause intermittent lag on all the other servers. So this requires us to make a decision on either not running another COD2 server or closing one of our current servers. My personal thoughts on the matter would be to close one of the Barb. servers. If we close one of the Barbarossa servers, this will allow us to offer the widest variety of servers. COD2 TDM COD2 CTF COD:UO Base Assault Stock COD:UO TDM Cassino COD:UO Barbarossa Over the last month and a half, I've been keeping a close eye on our Barbarossa servers. The servers gradually fill up later and empty out earlier all the time. Closing one of them, should help keep the other server continue to be successful. As an example, right now there are 10 players in one server an 7 in the other. I know there are several people who prefer one Barb server over the other. This could easily be addressed by randomly switching a single server between no time limit and the normal 30 minute round, maybe on a daily bases. No decision has been made. Makes sence. I would shut down one of the barbs also. After the 2nd cod2 server is up is there anyway to rotate the game type from CTF to S&D? Like maybe run the same map twice playing both game types then rotate the map? I like S&D better than CTF. Just curious.

I think closing one of the servers would be a good idea, due to the diverse population of gamers around here. My vote would be close "76" I don't mind playin' there when "80" is empty for whatever reason. I'd rather play in a stalemate than a 4 hour match...JMO. Could we run a game type other than CTF on the 2nd COD2 server?

Actual there is a chance we could run 2 more COD2 servers in place of the 1 Barb server.
Barb uses a lot more CPU time that Cassino or the stock BAS server, probably because of the size of the map & the number of players. Any objective COD2 server will probably be smaller than our current one, otherwise they end up getting played more like TDM than CTF or S&D. The size we'll have to test out but I'm guessing 18 public & 4 private slots. -------------------- Not a word was spoken to contradict or disagree with S@bot when he called me a....

If you remove barb 76 can you adjust the timelimit or add an overtime round? PLEASE DONT GIVE US UNTIMED!!!! THAT WOULD BLOW MONKEY CHUNKS!

LOL......Before any ot this is done, I suggest that we see how many of our guys are using the COD2 server now. Trying not to offend anyone, I just read Bullet's thread on his decision to not play in our COD2 server for awhile. I understand that the Barb is not stacked all the time, but how long has this been for? I concur with Silver's idea re the 80 server time limit. Maybe we should check what everyone is playing. I would like to suggest a couple of things for a CTF COD2 server and they are 1 - Have one smoke grenade per spawn, 2 - no MG42's allowed, 3 - no more than a 20 person max server 10 vs 10.

I really am not sure about closing the Barb servers... what are we getting the most in donations from? we have issues with COD2 and some of our members that needs to be resolved before we commit to anything. I personally think we need to look at donations and what the members think maybe by poll...
