I googled around and saw that basically it means your punkbuster is corrupted. Saw lots of advise, from uninstalling your punkbuster and downloading running the punkbuster exe file, to uninstalling/reinstalling your game. If it were me, I think I'd download evenbalance.com's punkbuster updater and run it before trying anything else.

go to www.evenbalance.com the guys there can help you. There is a download that will help things soooo much. also try going to start, run, msconfig, services and unchecking PnkBstrA. The new Pb has been doing this sort of thing to a lot of people, I kinda wish they would just go back to the old one

Thanks guys and gals... I downloaded the updater and it was NOT up to date... now I am... I will let you know if this fixes my problems or makes them worse....

Here is the link to the updater for COD for Windows... Just drop it into your \program files\call of duty\pb folder and run it there... Good Luck all...

PBsetup will also update any other games that run pb from whereever you put it.If you have it on your desktop and run it will ask which games to add you add the ones that run pb then it will tell you if there updated or not.

I have been trying for 4 days now and still cant get anything to work.

I even sent in a request to the PunkBuster team for help.....Havent heard from anyone yet.

Does anyone know what Norton has to do woth the problem? Thats the only thing I cant figure out to change.

OK, how do you get rid of voice overlay? I have no idea what that is.

I actually un-installed COD, UO and PB yesterday, re-installed PB (first) then COD and Uo, and it worked for about 15 minutes, then I got the same old junk.

GIJoe, if you would be so kind as to enlighten me on how to disable the voice overlay, my frayed nerves will thank you tremendously.

Game Overlay (In game chat client): The Game overlay services allows you to communicate through text or Voice with your all your AIM or ICQ friends within a game, avoiding the need to minimize a game when sending or receiving an IM.

I think he might be talking about Voice Overlay, the one we have in our downloads section. It's the one that shows you who is talking in vent while you're gaming. The other night, for some of the guys who turned off or uninstalled that program, it fixed their pb problems. For other guys, it didn't help.

To uninstall it, first turn it off. Then go to your Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, then click on it and click on uninstall. After it uninstalls, reboot your computer.

If 28 dosen't know what voice overlay is my guess he dosen't have it installed on his computer.

Just want to check your procedure. After you uninstall cod and uo, then reboot your computer. Then you have to delete out your Call of Duty folder. To be safe, I'd reboot again after that. Then, install COD, then install UO, then run the update patch. To be safe, I'd reboot yet again. Then, run the punkbuster updater.

For the last 2 weeks, I had the "Service Interruption" problem saying
that PB2 won't initialize. Put in a ticket 2 days ago and just got a responce today. It looks like my anit-virus was the main fault that
I could not get the PBSVC program to update my PB2 correctly.
I disabled my A-V and ran the PBSVC program again. The test ran
successfully. I then did the install and it worked. Both files (PBa&b)
should be in your Win/Sys32 folder. They should also be in the
Administrative Tools/Service section (set to auto load on startup)
I rebooted, reset my firewall for both A & B and ran the game
with no more PB problems....
