I've got an old system myself (Athlon 1800+, ti4200 vid card) and found that for single player, my frame rates were about the same as for COD. Great game, I loved playing through it a few times.
I can't play multiplayer for beans, though. One smoke grenade and my fps drop below 10.
Play the demo to see how your conmputer handles single player. If youlag for COD, though, multiplayer will be unplayable for you.

Downloading the demo would be a good indicator of how it would run (as stated above).

Mr.Scruff
i tried downloading it about 3 times yesterday

the first time it took an hour and after all that it just sed INVALID OR CORRUPTED and shut off

the second time i tried downloading it, the download completed but then my comp started acting weird and then it said low on virtual memory

and then i just tried downloading it now and it said the download is taking 4hrs+!

should i try again or just wing it and buy the game?

Ha, My system is slower tongue.gif And I had the same problem with the smoke grenades, 'Till I cut my screen resolution back to 800 by 600. It was absolutely terrible at 1024 by 768.

Best place to get demos is usually GamersHell.

The single-player is well worth playing (run in DX7 mode for speed).

The multi-player... has been dumbed down so the console folks can play in the same pool as the PC folks. Microsoft had *way* too much input on the design of the game.

Things that will drive you nutz:

- No sprint

- Separate grenade key (which dumbs down the tactical decision of "do I go for a grenade and make noise or risk being shot while I'm throwing the nade or do I stick with the weapon in-hand")

- Grenade indicators (eh? WTF?)

- No vehicles, maps are about the size of shoeboxes

- No cookable grenades unless you install server side mods

- Infinitely respawning enemies until you pass a checkpoint. Which is sad, because this was a key problem with the MoHAA single-player game. In fact, one of the early interviews with the old CoD team, they specifically mentioned that design shortcoming and said it wouldn't be used in CoD.

- Infinitely respawning allies. Which makes them cannon fodder, rather then AI actors that need to be assisted and protected.

- Grenades that drop like candy off of nearly every german that you kill in the single-player mission. In CoD, grenades were rare and you had to use them tactically as you progressed through the level. In CoD2, spam away!

Needless to say... I'm not a fan of COD2. IW went back to their MOHAA roots rather then staying true to the COD choices.

Hey scruff your goin to need a pretty good graphics card to get it running, so good luck to ya.

Mr.Scruff
yeah well im gonna try...

by the way scrapyard thanks for the advice.....man that sucks theres no sprint and enemies know when grenades are near them!

ahh well everythings worth a shot! i hope i like it

the prob is im not sure if my comp could even take the game, i have an hp pavilion ze4500 laptop....

well most times its fast paced, so if you toss them right you'll still get plenty of nade kills. I had a 7 kill nade the other day and after that (I kid you not) this other guy got a 10 person kill... it was awesome on OMB server he tossed on in the hall on toujane and BOOM....

and if you really like the sprint lots of servers are running the awe mod or a mod with sprint on the server.. and most times cooked nades. We ran it on our server but recently (purposes of matches) we made it stock.. but at any given moment you can find dozens of servers with that mod.

I say, get the game .. I been looking for something to live up to mohaa and nothing ever will but cod2 is the closest anything has come. I like it better than uo but am hoping they will give an expansion pack with other game types and the sprint.. (that is if they ever freakin release the patch they promised first)

I bet youll like it
Mr.Scruff
well thank you, i bet i will like it

im just really not sure at all if my computer will be able to take it
