What is Veterans Day?

Veterans Day is a special day for Americans. Unlike Memorial Day when we honor those who gave their lives for our country, today is a time to salute all veterans -- both living and dead-- and their sacrifices. Today should not be a day of sadness, but a time of pride and reflection on what veterans have accomplished and the freedoms they have protected.

Well said Old Man. I know MOB has a few who are serving their country as we speak. Busta, Bigdick, and Epacy. Thanks for your service fellas. May God be with those that are in the thick of it in the Middle East. We back home appreciate it. .

It's easy for everyone at home to forget the sacrifices and horrors that our soldiers go through.

My Dad was overseas for 2 + years in WWII. He never talked too much about specific gruesome details. I got a sense of how bad it was when he said that only 82 people out of the original company of 240 made it back home.

Many years ago our family was having dinner in a very nice restaurant. The food was great, and my little niece asked Dad if this was the best food he ever had. All of the sudden Dad got a very serious look on his face. He said there was a time one winter in France that they hadn't eaten for over 3 days. He and a buddy went out at night, and foraged on their hands and knees in a minefield looking for frozen onions. They cooked the onions in their helmets, and that was the best meal he ever had.

Veterans Day is a day to thank the men and women who have served our Country to keep it free. Offen times we forget the great sacrifices in combat that these people made to protect our rights, our families, our country.

I doubt if I would be good at learning German, Japaneses, or Russian.

Let me personally say thanks for my freedom.

I am very thankfull for the quality of life afforded to me by those who gave their lives, and proud to do my part (albeit a small one) to make sure we keep those freedoms we often take for granted. Remember that whether we agree or disagree with our government's decisions, the soldiers, sailors and airmen of our military need and deserve our support. They are the ones putting their lives on the line, not the politicians. Now, go enjoy your freedom to get owned by MOB on one of our servers! This freedom has been brought to you by the brave veterans of this great country!

I remember when I was in school.....I had the day off and my father had to go to work. I will never forget what he said;

"You get the day off from school to sit home and watch cartoons.....I fought in the war and have to go to work".....all said in good humor of course.

Thanks to all past and presant vets.

Remeberance day to me is a day when we can look at our neighbours and all other Allies involved , Americans, Canadians, Brits, Russians ,Polish and so many more and realize that for a time.....we had no borders, and all put aside our trivial bickering to defeat a foe who's sole purpose... was world domination.
To my late Grandfather who fought in WW1 and WW2..to my 3 Uncles who fought on the bloody battefields of Normandy and the rest of Europe.... to my good friends father who fought with the Americans as a Tank Commander and survived to tell us gripping tales of battling Tiger tanks, to my grammar school prinicipal and all his stories of dogfighting over the skies of Europe ...to ALL those who fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we have today, and to those whom are still fighting to preserve what we have....there is no greater sacrifice...God bless them all .

Very fine words Old man. A good buddy of mine (my old Tae-Kwon-Do) instructor is still suffering from gernade fragments from the Korean war, which are catching up in old age, and to add to it, after he returned his only wife and son died in a car accident in the car in front of him while travelling in bad weather. He can't even look at a war film these days. 26,791 Canadians fought there. Korean War
