i'm probably the least nerdy kid to play this game as much as i do, and i'm in dire need of a new graphics card, i have no idea what to get, though. i want something where i can run UO and CoD2 smoothly, and without lag. I'm thinking about 60-100 bucks? maybe you could give me some links to some sites. I'm thinkin about heading over to best buy or something like that.
thanks a lot
edit:
i've seen surfing bestbuy.com and i'm basically like "oh 100 bucks seems okay" so
here's the one that caught my eye for the price-range i'm hovering around.

You are probably not gonna want to go lower than the 9800 model in the ATI cards.

ATI has different models like Ford Escort, Taurus, Mustang. You are gonna want to go with a Mustang to play these games smooth and fairly high settings. If you go lower than the ATI Radeon 9800, you may not be as pleased with your investment. I use an ATI 9600XT and its OK.
You are going to pay an arm and a leg in retail stores. Order it online. Try Newegg.com.
Damnit Lipton, now you got me looking at cards to upgrade

www.pricewatch.com, your best bet may be a x800 or 850, they are getting pretty cheap now.

Hey Lip,
I talked to a friend of mine that knows computers pretty well and he says that this graphics card is not a good investment. It shows it is a 256, but it also in abbreviations shows 128-bit. He says that it is choked down to only utilize 128. Although it may be a step above what you have it will soon be outdated with other games and you will not like the gameplay of COD2 with it. Just letting you know what my friend told me. He built my computer for me.

uhmm...too late... its coming today.
I agree w/earlier post, pricewatch.com is a good spot to get v-cards on the cheap. I think the 9800 looks good, atleast better than what I'm running. Nvidia FX5200 Ultra 128, it runs UO till the smoke starts flying.

Wow, that is the same card I used to have and never had problems with the smoke in uo. Now COD2 was whole different story, It became a lag fest. So I got the Nvidia FX5500oc 256mb & still find I have lag when theres smoke in COD2. Its not as choppy but it still lags

If you are goint to keep it, you just need to install the new card and disable the integrated one in the bios.
Your new one is probably AGP...just pop it in....its the brown slot above the many white pci slots on your motherboard. The next time you reboot, get into your bios and look for the integrated video settings. It should give you an option to disable them.
Good Luck.

Not any huge issues with smoke, only when everyone decides to put it out there at once. Actually, it's possible that it's not even me, could just be the server lagging or other people lagging which causes everyone to a bit. Not sure. I've never had any probs with my card really, I can play UO and CoD2 decently. Only game I can't run is BF2 and I don't game enough anymore to justify a new card.

Yeah there could be other reasons for not being able to add it in. You may not have an AGP port or your case may be a small form factor.
