It may seem silly because of my crappy computer, but I'm looking to get a gaming mouse. Preferably one with side buttons for leaning. I'm willing to spend $50, but would rather spend less, of course. I saw a cool mouse that let you change the optical power (?) so that you could get very accurate shots, or turn very quickly with the click of a button.
So, who's got some oppinions or info for me?
Thanks.
Logitech G5 I own one and I can honestly say that its the best mouse EVER.
They also made a wireless version of the G5 which they call G7. More money though.
Honestly though, G5 is the best mouse money can buy right now.

I agree with Scar. I bought both the MX518 and the G5. The G5 was so good that I never bothered taking the MX518 out of the box.
thats the one i use, works great! mx518 think i got it for 39$
The thing that I don't like about the G5 is that it only has one thumb button. I use the two thumb buttons on the mx510 to lean.

Yes, the mouse wheel has three buttons: center, left lean and right lean. I use the left lean as a bash.

A lot of folks swear by the external keypads. Personally, I have yet to pick one up.
And I'm still using my old old Microsoft optical mouse. The newer buttons don't pass through the 4-port KVM properly so it's basically a 2-button mouse with scroll wheel. (And if I press the scroll wheel down, Windows pops up in the background usually getting me killed.)

Using Logitech MX310 and I like it fine. I bought a laser mouse and the damn thing was TOO sensative. I normally keep my mouse movement set pretty high normally. Turned the laser all the way down and still couldnt get used to it. It's sitting in a drawer now.

If there are any Mac users out there who are using Logitech Laser mice, I'd highly recommend you grab the phenomenal universal USB mouse driver, SteerMouse here:
http://plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/It costs $20, but is worth every penny.
Logitech's drivers don't allow you to have separate button sets for different applications. SteerMouse adds that functionality so you can define your buttons to your heart's content. You'll be able to bash, jump and pound with the best of them.

I don't know about the other Logitech drivers, but Setpoint which comes with the G5 mouse does have separate button sets for different applications. And they load automatically when you run the application. It will not allow a two key emulation (say the a and w key pressed at the same time) for a mouse button. I would be interested if Steermouse can do this.
Oh yeah, that your is GREAT!
logitech mx510, works great and has 5 buttons that I am trying to get use to using...
that steermouse is awesome, just installed it
mac users better then the mighty mouse is the mx510-518
bargod, I would see if he wants to sell you the mouse in a box in his drawer bargod...
mx518 is a great mouse
