Mr.Scruff
i was playing on my friends alienware on UO today and i was doing ALOT better than i usually do on my

laggy shit laptop. i have come to conclusion that i really am good, its just the constant lag on my laptop is

holding me back from constantly getting good scores. SOOO.......hopefully in the next couple of months i'm

going to save up and get more RAM so it runs perfect!

(sorry if this is useless information that you could care less about smile.gif )

Bargod
I actually think I have the same problem. However I'm afraid to get a new PC because it might prove to be wrong, lol.

I have now have one of the fastest systems possible but have not noticed very much difference. I think scores are most dependent on the following (in order):

1) Previous experience and time spent with first shooter programs

2) Mouse type, sensitivity and user control

3) Reaction time

4) Lag to server

5) Video Speed

6) Computer Speed

7) Amount of Ram

I'd have to agree with that statement! One thing more, the amount of distractions that are present in the room with you while you are trying to play! LOL

Druid
Want to talk distraction.
Try to play while you're son his sitting on your lap, telling you where to drive the tank and who to shoot.

LOL....I have the same problem, along with the wife telling me whats happening on T.V.

LOL @ all of above hysterical.gif ---> very funny to imagine those scenes. I guess alot of grinning and bearing it going on!
My distraction is minor in comparison to you family guys.
I set up a small table mirror next to my pc while playing so I can see what's happening on the tv behind me while I play [like Sopranos or another fave show].

Aaaaahhhhh, those are the moments to cherish, as they won't ever come around again. Unless, of course, your son is twenty-something, then it's time he got his own chair! LMAO

The computer I play on is a very fast computer. Fairly newly built and not cheaply. When I play on a friends computer I can definately tell the difference, but my scores are not much different. Yes it can improve your scores, but not much. Lets say you average 80 kills per game on Cassino, you would probably get an average of maybe 90 with a upgrade of computer. Thats what I see anyways.
Lord Lipton
i know for a fact i could rake up 80+ a round amazingly easily with an alienware (silver hopefully would agree with me...)

i think i can say i can compete with bargod with the worst computer known to gaming.

Count me in too, mr.Lipton.... though not horrid, my pc is to me, what the millenium falcon is to han solo when the empire is in pursuit!

Maybe do what I did mr.Dienamic! I was so horrid in MP when I first got CoD I almost threw it out after a coupla weeks... so upon realising 'the mountain wouldn't come to me' I took a new approach. I started not caring about getting killed and went out seeking my murderers. When you die alot you start to learn why you're dying. In so doing you learn a few methods of avoiding death along the way.I still die alot but I also find ways to get my killers before the get me many times and thus get to the team objectives.
ps.Hint->Playing in S+D and tdm missions help significantly too I find.... wink.gif
dienamic
It was a joke lol......I rock at BA , but I am also ok at TDM and DM. It really depends on how much effort I put into it. While playing tdm I like to goof off alot. If I am being serious, I can be good at it. I guess that is almost anything I do lol...... blink.gif
Churchill
alienware is overrated and their hardware is junk. build or yourself for $3000 cheaper or go www.abs.com or www.ibuypower.com
Mr.Scruff
well i think old man mike just solved my problem.

i only have a bout 448MB of RAM on my comp. my friend Salamander has 504MB and his comp is LAGFREE!! it seems insane that little amount makes such a difference. but all of you bring about a very good point thanks for the input

dienamic
ummmm, it sounds like you have a bad stick of ram. The fact that yours and his are different should tell you something. You will never get the true 512 ram, but I think the numbers should at least match.

I run a gig of corsair duel channel factory sinked ram, but it does not show the complete potential.

Hope that helps.

Lord Lipton
i don't understand any of this nerd junk. blink.gif
Mr.Scruff
dude me neither lip

i do understand that i need a lil more RAM though

what the hell is RAM anyway? and why do you need more of it? god, haha. i know NOTHING about computers.

Fearing you'll say you're joking and I get egg on my face once more...
RAM is random access memory... You have several levels of memory the computer uses to make things tick... each one better than the other.... The more RAM you have, the less likely the computer resorts to using the slower hard drive 'page file' memory which is busy using resources for other computer functions[ but the motherboard should be modern enough to support very high amounts of installed ram]. The graphics card[and its personal memory] is either above or below the ram memory in importance depending upon how powerful either type is.

Here's geeky thread link on types/amount of ram to use> good chuckles at the end.

It could be using part of RAM as video RAM (shared video memory). Common on the cheaper motherboards with integrated video.

When RAM fails, it generally fails the entire stick (so you go from 512 to 256, etc.).
