That was a great game. I actually thought Italy was trying to take it to PKs because they weren't pushing up too much in the 2nd half or the OT. Good job.

yeah that was crazy they scored not one but 2 goals in like 30 seconds in the last 2 minutes of OT

Cross, you didn't think Italy played back most of the 2nd half? First half they were attacking and controlling the ball... 59-41 possession. 2nd half was all German possession and they attacked. I assumed Italy would try to control in OT, but they didn't attack too much. Just ran the ball down the wing and kept getting a lot of corner kicks... beyond that, I thought Germany spent most of OT pushing the ball in the middle and not getting too much out of it... just a few over the bar shots. I think once Italy scored with 2 mins left, they could push all they wanted and got an easy 2nd goal.

when you have 15mins of OT the best way to play it ,is keep getting cornors,as that the best chance of getting the goal.Italy didn`t want PK,as they have gone out the last 4 times,(apart from S.Korea golden goal 4 years ago),so that was the last thing they wanted,we also hit the post and crossbar twice in overtime....................possection means nothing if you dont use it,Germany didn`t break when they had the ball and we where in their half,they waited till at least 5 Italy players were back to cover the ball.

I guess I just thought that Italy would've attacked harder, but in the end they still won.

I am totally stoked for the finals. Italy is a counter attacking team primarily. They have a very stong back line that can contain an offense, and lull them into sending midfielders forward. Goaltending is stellar by the azzurri and is a must to win it all. Defense wins championships.... Germany is a very tactical team, and if they do not get thier chances the way they like, they rely on athleticism and strength of a player like Ballack to break open a defense. It was a great game to watch and i thought it was going to be a slugfest at the beginning. Lukily the bookings were minimal compared to the other matches, but come on.... that goal!!!! I was out of my seat and in the front yard before i even knew what hit me. My brother and I hugged for the first time in years. They willl have more difficulty with France if they go today, because they are so smooth and fast, but if it comes down to portugal, wow, there will be alot of diving alll over the place and some good old fasioned whining going on.
