I dig the ZW version,

the Les Paul is a classic if you have the cash

I have a BC Rich Warlock, 80s style, autobot sticker, checkered strap.... totally Hair baby.

Are you insane? What exactly would it sound like if you were trying to be an ass? There's a reason he has 3 custom models..... and it's not because he's capable of covering Green Day or the White Stripes.... but I can understand not wanting one because it is so identifiable with him. Not to mention freakin expensive. Have you ever been to the plant where they make Les Pauls in Memphis? It's sweet.... the gift shop is a guitar freaks heaven. Unfortunately I can't even play a Kazoo as I have no musical talent. But I dig some good guitar work....

Wait a second... You dont even play???

It is relatively easy to pick up basic chords, and if you get a cheap acoustic, you can have the basic chords down by this weekend. I learned exculsively online. Playing for about 6 years now, and own 4 guitars. It is a great hobby, BUT to base musical talent on graphics on a guitar is insanity.... ESTEBAN on tv has 2-3 models and he is hardly a superstar. I do like the ZW version of the les paul, but I would rather have the Iced Tea coloring. In the hands of even a novice player like myself, a 5000 dollar guitar does little benefit. I played a 1500 dollar gibson sg, and I was doing the instument a disservice. It is funny how you are so passionate about the guitar, but dont play... you should learn.

did you see my Guitar Hero thread?

PS2 video game... has a bunch of gibson guitars in it, including your beloved Wilde Style.

Yep, replied to the thread about guitar hero. I've tried to play. I know cords etc. But I just don't have the knack for it... Not one of the gifts God gave me. I've got the rythm of a doorknob and the patience of an angry rhino. I was spoiled growing up because my interest were in sports and I picked all of those up without any trouble. But you don't have to be good at something to be passionate about it. I'm a fan of music. And I hardly base Zakk's ability on the graphics of his guitar. He's arguably the best guitarist around. Earning awards from every major magazine, organization, etc. He was recently inducted to Hollywood's rock walk etc. There's no one who can honestly say the dude can't play. You may not like what he plays but his technical merit speaks for itself. Can't believe you thought I would think he was a good guitarist because he has a cool looking guitar... Besides, Les Paul doesnt just hand out signature models (yet alone 3). He's also one of two or three guitarist to have their own Marshall amp. And no I'm not a metal head. I'm closer to being a hippy as I listen to bands like moe. , Allman Brothers, and Gov't mule more than anything else. Later..

Its all good dude. I am not picking on you. Get back to work on the frets!! I am a jock as well and picked the guitar up as a hobby at 26. If you can game online, you can do this.

I am an EVH fan. I like the hair bands, but I am also into the classic rock era as well. I did NOT think you paralleled skill with graphical style. I have had a subsription to Guitar One magazine and ZW is in there all the time. I am a fan of his playing, maybe not the music though. Billy Gibbs from ZZtop is a genious, as well as satriani, and Eddy V. It is hard to compare musicians and thier skill. A guy lke john mayer may play VERy faggy music, but if you ever heard him free play the dude can hit scales with the best of them. HIs hands are huge and i think he has marphans syndrome, but he really can play. He is not even in the same ball park as the rockers, but his skill is still very impressive. Make fun of me now, go ahead, but as a fellow enthusiast, you cant!!! haha LOOPHOLE!!!!

I know jack about 'tars, but I will say, based on how shiny it is, I give it an A+

I've got carpal tunnel too so it hurts to have to hold the strings down.... hurts to game too but as I die every 15 seconds or so I can stop for a min and stretch the hands... there's nothing wrong with liking different music types. Lets just say I've been to concerts that run the spectrum of music... from James Taylor to Kiss... not to mention others I won't name for fear of being beat up.... but you are right there's no way to compare musicians... it's all subjective.... could Jimi Hendrix have played Crazy Train? Hell no, technically he wasn't that good but that doesnt mean he wasnt one of the best ever because of his creativeness etc. You always have people like him and EVH (who can play) that do something no one has seen before. Doesnt mean that no one else can do it but if they try to replicate it they are standing on the back of a giant and claiming to be tall. It cracks me up when some one says so and so is the best. Like Eddie or Yngwie have something that is their trademark i.e. tapping and sweep picking. I've seen Zakk demonstrate both of those. He can do it but why would he? You arent going to make a name for yourself doing that. I think what makes a guitarist elite is that you can tell immediately who it is. Like Zakk has the pinch harmonics. You know it's him after the first bar. Anyway.... it's fun to talk about but there is no way to say one person is the best. You can say one of or arguably but no way can you say definetly the best.

Great guitar and a great sound. Hit some tablature sites, easiest way to pick things up. I've been playing for almost 30 years and it never gets old. biggrin.gif

Joe Walsh does this thing he learned from pete townsend called rhythm lead which is terribly impressive and ridiculously difficult. but that is why they are pete twonsend and joe walsh, and I am me...

Pezzy? 30 years? I though you were my age...33?

T/A6Pak
That is one sweet guitar. My dad use to play the guitar, when I was younger I broke all the strings off while pretending to know what I was doing. He never let me use it again..lol for that matter, I have not seen it in years, I think he locked it up.

You should take some lessons, might be a good start.

TheGhost
I have been taking lessons, since the end of June, as a matter of fact.

and Pez, I have hit some tab sites, I am starting to be able to play Stormy Monday by The Allman Bros (version from live at fillmore east), Whipping Post (from the same album), Melissa, Jessica, Hot 'Lanta (fillmore east), and the intro to sweet child o mine by guns n roses.

Oh, and to cvlear up any confusion its not a Gibson, its an Epiphone.

Ya, I'm 34. I started playing around 5ish. My grandfather worked his whole career at Martin guitars up in Nazareth, PA and my dad has been playing his whole life... just kind wore off on my right away when I was young. biggrin.gif Guess having so much access to guitars and stuff made it easy.

i had drums, but i sold 'em. my brother was the guitar player of the fam. damn good too.

good stuff...

most of the tab sites have been hit by the MIAA about the tabs being stealing of the music... no joke.

slash tears it up, so best of luck with that 15th fret...

oh and to clear it up further.... gibson owns epihone....

Not a burn,

In case anyone is interested, I'm involved in the roots of a new company that will provide high-end guitar rental. We're setting it up so that clients can have a guitar delivered to their house or to a hotel during a business trip/vacation for a week. I can't divulge the name/site/or stock yet till we go public... sorry. But I'm really looking forward to cleaning and tuning all the fine guitars we put in stock. Plus, we'll be running this operation out of an office in my girlfriend's warehouse which is 5 minutes from our house, so I'll be able to "borrow" a few guitars here and there. biggrin.gif

I'll fill you guys into more details sooner than later, we're looking to be fully operational by Q4 2006.

Flatliner, we might have to start a band! You like polka right? tongue.gif

Speaking of polka dots, at first i was going to buy a Chuck Berry Signature Fender, which has black polka dots on a white base.. or an SRV Fender, but I decided on the les paul.

I have the intro fingering down i just gotta work on the speed, and i need to get thicker strings.. the paul has the stock ones that it came with, i think they are like 6's or something, im used to playing 11's or 12's so right now i can bend the shit out of the strings..

Yes he did use a guitar like this one. This is not the original!!! This is a replica. Rhoads was not married. "If" anyone would have given Wylde Randy's guitar, It was most likely his sister or his mother. Nice try on that.
