Looking for a '32 inch TV for gaming and watching TV.....

The Cudakid picked out the Samsung LNS3241D model--->

Then someone told me today that the Dell TV is the way to go???? This is the one I found that seems similar-----> http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdet...mp;sku=222-4377

If anyone can tell me which is better for the kids needs or maybe one that I missed please let me know. I almost bought the Samsung today...but thought I should probably get some feedback from the pros.

When you say it's for gaming, do you mean console gaming or are you going to hook up a pc to it? Reason I ask is 'cause neither one give any particulars for pc gaming (refresh rates, or black-to-black ms).

Second, I'm puzzled that the Samsung has two asterisks that lead you to the footnote: HDTV source required. So like, does it need a separate HDTV tuner to get you to HDTV? If so, then the Dell says "Built-in HDTV tuner," so I'd choose that one.

Lastly, gosh, are you looking to adopt anyone? Mommy, I'd sure like an HDTV too. ;-)

I don't even know how that HDTV works...lol: He wants to hang it on the wall and use it for gaming and watching TV. My knowledge is little to none. When I asked the guy at the future shop...he says that when it's hooked up to the PC there is no difference in the timing. He also lied to me and said the manager (who is my friend was not working). I told him he's going to need to be 10 feet away to game on that size screen, but he seems to think it will be fine....he has big plans for his gaming/tv room??? If I adopt you then you have to share with him lol... or each of you could have a 16 inch tee hee hee.

BTW- he is like his father, high maintenance...LOL

most likely it wont matter if it has a hdtv tuner or not as most people have satelite or cable boxes that do that for them... I recommend going to a site that has reviews of these where people have bought them. To be honest whatever you buy is probably going to be fine. Just check the net for any known issues. By the way I wouldnt go on what you see in the store. Depending on what dope set them up and which model they WANT to sell they may have different settings and sources on each one. For instance a HDTV wih an HD signal looks awesome. But if you put a similar model next to it with regular cable on it the cable looks terrible. Just FYI.....

Did some reading on these. They both have an 8ms response time which is decent for pc gaming. They both have an integrated HDTV tuner for off-the-air HDTV broadcasts.

The Dell has more input options, even has inputs on the side of it for component in and audio. The Samsung only has inputs on the back, so if you need to swap up stuff, you'll have to be getting behind it.

The Samsung has the better contrast ratio (Dell 1200:1, Samsung 3000:1.) Brightness is the same for both 500 cd/m2).

The Dell has better speakers (Dell 30 watts total, Samsung 20 watts total).

The Samsung weighs way less (Dell 44.7 pounds, Samsung 30 pounds).

Each of these have 2 different ways to hook up a pc. They both have one good old VGA input. Then the Samsung has 2 HDMI inputs, whereas the Dell has 1 HDMI input -- but if you're going to hook up your pc's video card DVI input to one of these, you'll need a DVI to HDMI converter cable, so don't forget to pick one up if you don't already have one.

Personally, from looking at the specs, I'd be happy with either one, would probably go with whichever was cheapest at the time. Especially if I couldn't see them running side by side with the same demo. (BTW, I agree with everything Genocide said!)
