This is totally wierd. I'd been playing on the cod2 aim maps server for probably 2 hours, when boom, I got punkbuster booted for "duplicate GUID/CDKEY." At the time, it was just Hemlock and me playing, so no chance of some random guid calculation fluke.
Anybody else having this happen? My cod2 is genuine store-bought standard-issue, and it's only ever been installed on this here one computer.
It's just stupid PB. I've had it happen before. I believe I had to restart my pc to get in again.
Hi Steel,
Alot of people were having that problem in both COD2 and UO. As Bar stated it was a punkbuster problem. I had to go update my punkbuster after it happened several times to me. It may be that re-booting will fix it. If not head over to punkbuster and update your COD2 PB there.

Thanks Bargod and 6pak.
I did some research and found that this problem can happen when a player is getting lag spikes (and I was getting lag spikes at the time). What happens is that if punkbuster is doing one of its regular checks while a player is getting a lag spike, the player's game can answer with a "guid 0" and of course, there's going to be other players on other servers returning that same "guid 0" out there, so punkbuster flags those players as having "duplicate guid/cdkey."
I also found that Activision knows about this problem but has not done anything to fix it. Argh.
First time it's ever happened to me, so it scared me a little bit, lol.
