You might know me from your many wonderful base 24x7 maps that you run. I enjoy playing on them and encouraged my fellow Dead Presidents guild members to join on Barbarossa tonight (3Dec). When we were joining the server we auto-assigned as we usually do to avoid clan-stacking. At this point we had 3 DPs on Axis and 2 on allies. After a bit one of our DPs, V1X3N, was kicked and banned for 20 minutes (admin decision). I figured that this was a Punkbuster error and asked the server admins if they could unban her. When I did I was tersely told by MOB GOOSEDOWN that she was kicked because she was spying for the rest of us on the Axis. I said that that was not true and could he please unban her. After some bickering, during which GOOSEDOWN kicked two more of my clan (exile, Prof.Teabagger) to prove "WHOS IN CHARGE" I said I would post on your forums. I told him twice that I considered his behavior to be insulting to not only myself but also my clan and he kept repeating "WHOS IN CHARGE" and "ILL SHOW U". I realize that as an admin you must have absolute control over the server. We have one ourselves and have had to deal with the odd kick/ban. However we try to deal respectfully with cheaters, when they present themselves, and do NOT ban/kick someone for cheating without proof. This galls me the most because I thoroughly enjoy your base servers and have always been treated well by everyone on there. I would appreciate a response and explanation regarding this matter.

Was V1X3N in spec mode when she got kicked? I am unsure what went on, I can tell you when people are sitting in spec mode for more than 10-15 mins they get kicked. If you play on our server often, you may realize that our Barb server fills up quickly. People sitting in spec taking up spots that could be filled with others that want to play.



I can also tell you that if you sit and try and argue with any member during game play you will be kicked. That is considered spamming and server disruption. This is the place to come and state your case. Why did V1X3N not come and post?


By the way V1X3N stats were 1 kill - 3 deaths - 2 suicide - One game

The other game it was 0 kills - 2 deaths - 0 Suicides.....so please tell us what he/she was doing the whole time.

I wasn't on the server when this happened, but I did hear Goose's side of things moments after when he explained his actions on Vent to us. He felt he had clear evidence that she was acting as a spy for the other team, staying in game, but lying in a prone position, not fighting and watching the action. The game logs support his observation.

We encourage people to join our servers and engage in battle. It can completely ruin a game if one or more people choose not to fight. I can't speak to what words were exchanged between the two of you, but the bottom line is: we are here to have fun, not argue over temporary actions taken by someone administering (and paying for) the server.

According to my calculation, the 20 minutes has expired. Frag on!

I appreciate your responses. As to why V1X3N was laying prone: probably because she hasn't played COD UO in a year or more and had never played Barbarossa before. She also was not in spectator mode, she was on the Allies as was exile. We all play on teamspeak but we never share info if we are on opposite teams. I understand that Goosedown felt he had proper cause but he was very unprofessional when he did so. I do not take accusations of cheating by myself or my fellow guildmembers lightly and was completely offended by the way he went around making his feelings known. Goosedown also, if I recall correctly, typed something about his team (allies) getting the members of DP that suck. That is just downright insulting and there is no place for it on any server. This is the main issue I have.

Emotions sometimes rule in the middle of the game. But, honestly if she was hiding in a bush the whole game, then let someone else play. I'll accept your explanation that she wasn't spying, but realistically her behavior is highly suspicious. If she was killing the other team, this whole experience would have never happened. And by the way "Killing the other team is the whole point" Right?

I don't have a problem with her being kicked for being afk but to go ahead and accuse us all of cheating/spying was way out of line on Goosedown's part. I realize emotions do happen to run high and I hope that we all will learn from this. As I've said before I enjoy the opportunity to play on your server and hope to continue to do so. I will speak with my fellow DPs on this matter to ensure it does not happen again. I would also, however appreciate a bit more civility on the admins' part when cheating,hacking/spying/afking is suspected: a warning would have been sufficient before a kick/ban and none was received. Again, I can't tell you how to run your server and I realize this was an isolated incident. Thank you.

Thank you for your time in advance for considering my post, as I realize you would probably rather be doing something else. As far as I go, what was the reason for me getting kicked? I was actively playing the game, shooting with a bazooka, attacking with tanks, shooting with a rifle, etc- nothing that I know of that would be out of line. I noticed Vixen got kicked, and then a minute later I got kicked. No warning, no nothing. We are admins on our server, so we understand that arguing is undesirable, but I just wanted to know what I did wrong. Please understand that DP deals harshly with cheaters if found within our guild, so rest assured that you will have a hard time finding one us cheating or using unfair tactics on your server. If we are to continue playing on your server, we would like to know what we should do to avoid this situation again.

after speaking with goose last night, it appeared that the members of your clan that were on his team were sitting off to the side while the rest of shelled them repeatedly. giving the impression you were getting intel from the "sleepers" on the allied team. this is not a very desireable action, whether that's what was happening or not, i have no idea, i wasn't there! i would say let it go and hopefully it can be burried and forgotten!

Unfortunately, Goosedown hasn't been in our forums for several days and hasn't seen your thread yet. Clearly, this appears to be a matter between your members and Goosedown. Perhaps you all can settle things via personal messages.

MOB rules are clear in that we don't tolerate actions that disrupt the server. I'm glad you both have come in here to try to settle the issue and you certainly sound earnest enough. Let's look to the future and everyone will pledge to try to keep their emotions in check and simply enjoy their time on our servers as much as possible.

One of our main rules for server behavior is that we don't tolerate people calling other people cheats or hacks. I haven't seen the server logs, but it sounds as if Goose probably got a little worked up and said some things that I'm sure he regrets. It is kind of ironic that my involvement with this clan started because I was falsely accused of using a hack and an admin kicked me unjustifiably. I came into these forums to complain and a long, positive relationship has ensued. I trust you two will find that you are welcome at all times on our servers and in our forums and may your time here be as fruitful as mine has been.

All I know about this is what I've read here, but I've never known Goose to kick somebody for no reason and he isn't a "kick happy" type of person. Let's move on. It seems like there was no ban, right? Just a basic kick? If she was afk that was reason enough for the kick.
Also, Goose has a very, very dry and sarcastic sense of humor. That also may be involved. Playing with him the other day he thought I was offeneded by something he said. I wasn't at all. I get his humor. But when I told him I was jumping up and down on his (virtual) corpse after I killed him, and he then came back in a jeep to find I was indeed doing that, he thought some of his previous comments to me might have offended me and appologized. I explained to him that I was not offended and in the last moments of the round I was actually being quite literal.
So, as I've discovered to be true many times in my experience with online gaming, much is lost through reading things online. Often somebody makes a joke and another person misunderstands the joke and is offended. This creates a situation where joking can become hostile.
I think our most basic of kicks, which is 20 minutes, says that Goose didn't think that big of a foul was commited. Let's just move on.
I'll probably talk to Goose tomorrow on vent. I'll let him know about this. He doesn't spend much time in the forums. He pretty much sticks to Barb. I doubt there are many players that have logged more hours on that map.

I enjoy playing on your servers immensely (maybe not as much as 18Bravo) and would like to continue to do so. I'm not the kind to get worked up over anything small either. I appreciate your comments they are all very objective and kind. Remember that a 20 min Kick is just a time out. We sometimes make mistakes when we kick however being kicked only hurts for a little while and allows us to mark that person for more serious action if needed. I’ve been kicked for 20 and I needed it. Being kicked is not a big deal and does not require a jury trial however it does denote a problem that if problems reoccur it will result in a ban. On the other hand there is no memory of a kick in any future session of good playing . GOOSE
