Ok guys, it's pretty sad when a guy cant go to the restroom without bring kicked from a server. I tried to play tonight around 1720 - 1730 EST on Barbarossa only to come back and find that I've been kicked. Being kicked probably wouldn't be so bad but the 20 minute ban is BS. All I did was load my game and take a trip to the toilet. cussing.gif

You were sitting in spec and Rommel had asked you to join several times. Sorry we didn't know that you were visiting the thrown...(LOL). People were waiting to get in and there was another player sitting in spec as well. No hard feelings buddy, we've all been there.
HammaTime
A kick was appropriate. The 20-minute ban wasn't. Please accept our apologies and come back often.
T/A6Pak
It wasn't a ban...all it was was a 20 min kick!!! I don't know why he thinks it was a ban. I don't even think we can ban for 20 mins. Never heard of that???
I didn't make it 20 mins...when you do the kick it does it automatically.
I think there might be some mix up!!!!!!!!!!
Spectre
Either way you didnt need to attack us like that i beleive. You should of just ask why did I get kicked? Well i think we will fix the issue.

6Pak is correct. Barb has a default period for a pbrcon kick and that is 20 mins. It was a kick, not a ban.

It's politically correct to kick people who spec for a long time. There was people who ask to join the server, but could not log in to the server because it was full. smile.gif

Is there a way for a person doing the "kicking" to override the default and put in a time amount? In case of people sitting in spec, it would be better for a 0-1 minute ban/kick (whatever the heck you want to call it). 99% of the time, a person sitting in spec for a few minutes is just afk, so no need to prevent them from gettting back in for 20 minutes.

As for the orginal poster, you sure could have asked more nicely. Catch mre bees with honey than with vinigar!

Still, spec kicks should be very short. We don't want to hurt the popularity of the server by over aggressive kicking.

It seems to me there is, but I'm not the expert here either. I kicked 6pak from the server back when I had {MOB} tags (I assume I had 100 pts) because she was AFK for a while, server was full, peeps wanted in. I input the time as "1" and she was immediately back in. I believe you could/can specify the time from 1 to 999 mins? Sound right, anyone? I think I will visit the PB website. I'm sure the answer is there - somewhere. blink.gif

I believe all of our servers have the default 20 minute Punkbuster ban period. But, we aren't supposed to use the pb_kick command for just this reason.

To properly kick someone we should all be using the pb_rcon pb_sv_kick command. This enables us to specify your name and the reason you are kicking the person, and most importantly, the number of minutes you are kicking. This rule for MOB members to follow was established long ago to make tracking down the events surrounding the kick easier.

Here is an explanation of the command:

pb_rcon pb_sv_kick # %% "Why you kicked the person & YOUR NAME"
replace # with the slot number the player is in
replace %% with how many minutes you want to kick them.

6Pak made an honest mistake. We certainly have all done it, but this is the first time I've heard the bathroom excuse!!

Thanks Hamma, I am going to copy that down right now. That does make alot more sense. Anyways, this error I made probably helped out alot more people with Hamma's response.
But correcting my error will save alot of problems in the future. Just another Blonde Moment....LOL
Thanks All

Not a blond moment on your part, though you do have many, many, many of them!!! smile.gif

Hamma's detail is better than the initial instructions I read long ago. What I have written down on a scrap of paper was the more basic kick which defaults to 20 minutes. But I also remembered a long time ago you'd see DG kick people and it'd have that explanation plus the minutes would vary widely. Once she kicked herself for 2 minutes when I told her too...but everytime I tell 6pak to kick herself she thinks I'm joking! tongue.gif
T/A6Pak
LOL... I'll leave that to Sabot...he kicks me when I least expect it...LOL Like right when I'm going to snipe his butt or plant a base. MOD you're really kidding right?? blink.gif blink.gif dribble.gif
Who would want to kick me???? OMG....LOL don't say everybody.

Will this work without being a deputy (100 powerpoint guy), Hamma or Mike?
Bargod
It's only set up for 100 pt. guys.
)--S@B0T-->
After some reflection, I thought this was the case. Soz we have it straight;

100 pointers can kick for any amount of time between 1 and 999 mins and ban.

30 pointers can kick - for twenty minutes per kick with no allowance for time adjustment and cannot ban.

15 pointers or those with less than 30 points have to "team up" to accumulate 30 points - twenty minutes per kick with no allowance for time adjustment and cannot ban.

Yes?

Hamma,

Several points need to be made here:

1) The above information you copied is from the MOB Private section which the MOB Regs do not have access to. Posting this information is not only against MOB rules, it leads to lots of confusion about the commands since MOB has different capabilities than MOB Regs.

2) MOB Regs should use the commands pinned in the MOB Regs section. The default kick periods are fine. Also, it is not a 20 min ban. PBrcon bans are not temporary and remain in place until an unban is executed. You are confusing bans with kicks. In addition, all MOB server kick defaults are NOT 20 mins. The COD2 defaults are 5 mins. The kick times are appropriate for the length of the maps.

3) I think you are the one that should be apologizing to T/A6pak since she was following the correct process.

Hey Mike,

There clearly is an awful lot of confusion over PB kicks. I was addressing kicks, not bans, and not temporary bans. Furthermore, the information I copied was NOT the exclusive property of MOB. Google PB commands and you will find an awful lot of hits that address these specific commands, including that precise description.

6Pak is a 100 pointer and she should be using the command I referenced.

She was playing as a Reg and was following Reg procedures.

As you've called out to others so many times before - "it was an honest mistake". Admit that you can make mistakes too. I'm sure she would appreciate hearing an apology from you after your lecture forced one out of her.

I've tried to play on both sides using auto select and hate to play German, usally becase of fellow team players shoot at me, standing around, and players sitting in spec for long periods of time when the server is packed.

If you have to go to the washroom why not let us know so we dont temporary kick you for 20 min minumim.

6pak your doing a great job. I have never seen her abuse her powers only a min kick after warning and asking other about what they have seen.

Sorry if I offended anyone but,
6pak RULES!!!!

Are you saying people need to ask to go to the washroom?
Thats a pretty twitchy trigger finger!

If it going to take a long time, and they would like not to be kicked, it would not hurt to be a little consederate of the other player that are trying their best to win.

Mike, I make mistakes all the time!! I don't believe I have ever been accused of not making mistakes! LOL. I wish, but it just hasn't ever happened.

I can easily admit when I am wrong, because it happens so often, but I also get confused, and frankly your responses here have really confused me. Perhaps you could point me in the direction of my "lecture" to 6Pak. I never felt that anything I had posted on this public thread was derogatory to 6Pak. If she, or anyone, read them that way, I am truly sorry for that was never my intent.

My first posting was a reply to All Thumbs. I think we all can agree that going to the bathroom shouldn't result in a 20-minute ban. I was simply backing up what she had posted. Visitors shouldn't have to strap on a catheter in order to play on our servers. In fact, I think All Thumbs did the honorable thing. Most people simply stand AFK. In a tight match, that can greatly throw the balance to one team. Nothing worse than having an inactive player standing around your spawn. It always gives an unfair advantage to the other team.

My second post was made in answer to MoD's question and to help S@bot as he attempted to remember the details. And now, you come dancing in and accuse me of lecturing and of giving away closely held MOB secrets??? I never implied that 6Pak wasn't playing as a Reg, but was I wrong in my assumption that when 6Pak is on our severs she has 100 Power points???
Old Man Mike
Interesting characterization of the thread.

The nice thing about a forum is that the thread is there for everyone to read and form their own opinions.

You can have the last word since this topic is now closed. Any additional discussions of MOB policies or procedures should be done in the private forums.
