Many of us MOB'sters are family people, and we are in this forums at least one time each day. Myself I have a laptop in our livingroom and I check the forums regularly, often with my children hanging around me. I must admit than some avatars from several MOB Regs is not suited for domestic area. We have Grandparents, grandchildren and children watching this site. And personally I would like to have a general rule which forbid sexual or violent avatars. After all this is not a personal homepage - It's the MOBCLAN site.

I agreed, there are some bad avatar.

The family that plays together stays together.
I think that Kleerance request is very respectable. We have a wide range of age groups playing here and respect is two fold. Look at our little guy MUNCUS he is 10 yrs old.

For the sake of showing the other side you can disable avatars in your preferences so that they do not show up.

I understand you concern but disagree with any formal restriction. I think some of the avatars are in extremely poor taste, but some may think the same of mine. (although I can't understand why...) so there-in lies the problem.

And, it becomes a judgement of acceptability. Who becomes the judge and jury? I'm with junkie, turn off the avatars if you have a problem and are concerned with content or over the shoulder peekers. The avatars are generally tame, considering any grandpa, or kid can pull up google and find worse stuff in as long as it takes to type it.

No formal restriction is my vote.

I also think that if someone finds the avatars offensive, why not just disable them? My avatar has some nudity in it but I really dont think the nudity is as horrible as some of the killing ones. I would rather my son daughter see some boobs rather than someones head blowing up or of that nature. But if you guys rule that there is no nudity allowed, I will remove it.

While Everyone has they're own taste i think that it is in our best intrests to keep the site as Family oriented as possible, like T/A6pak said they're a lot of different age groups watching our forums whether we know it or not....Soo ied have to agree with Kleerance as well

this fits the exact same mold of scrutiny the the GTA series did for thier "hot coffee" mod in which sex was "shown".

a game based on killing, drugs, robbery, gambling, extorsion, and violence is fine... but no sex....

Yes, we have 10 year olds playing... it is a game based on war, that rewards gunshots to the head, and i KNOW that blood is enabled. this game is rated T for teen. not 10. inappropriate is inappropriate, and hell, I would know....

We must also ban the violent/sexual smilies, and the foul language...both of which I would also be fine with.

My old team, 3rdArmy, had specific forums that were request/invite only where people could post "non family channel" pics and language. I know this doesn't help the avatar issue, but just food for thought.

For my 2 cents, I turned off sigs/avatars about the 2nd week I was here... it was either that or leave, because I couldn't take some of 'em.

Kinda boring with no sigs or avatars, but at least it's tolerable this way.

I didn't know you could disable avatars, and I'm guessing some of the people who have problems with them didn't know either.

This is a case where not everyone can be totally satisified. But if avatar's can be turned off in your personal view, I think that should be what people do. Given they weren't against the rule, people shouldn't have to be putting a bunch of thought into what may or may not cross the line. Rather, if you think people are crossing the lline, disable your avatar view.

And I say this as someone with completely inoffensive avatars.

Anyway, just tried it. Go to "my controls" then on the left, "board settings", then change the Avatar choice to "no". You can still see everything else.

Now that I tried it, it's a no-brainer. Don't like inoffensive avatars...turn them off. Everyone in the forums shouldn't be subject to opinion of a few. But still, I say that with the utmot respect for Klerrence and Rommell and TBN. Great guys, but seriously, how about just changing your avatar view???

I remember DJ laughing so hard when he noticed Flat's avatar....LOL. I know I have Cosmo magazine's all over the house with pics that would make some of your avatar's look innocent. I wasn't aware that you could disable the avatar's.
It's kind of like a catch situation....where do you draw the line? When DJ was with MOBRegs, I only let him read the forums with me.

I did not find flatliner or nothing avatar offenive and have not see any so far. If they can be turned off I vote to keep the Avatar on. If you find any really bad, with out farm animals, sent them to me.

I believe there is an agreement statement you have to check when you first join the server that explains that there may be offensive material on here or something like that.
So, in my oppinion, if you don't like them, turn them off.

I have had this SIG since i join {MOB} But if anyone have a problem with it PM me and i will change it with no question ask.

Honestlty I miss Flatliners avatar too.....

I didnt see anything bad with flats avatar really. Nothings i say is worse than flatliners. We have had issues like this but they get more strict.All i say if you can disable avatars well then disable them. Its like if you want to take off or on in a game. You can get certain internet nanny's and blockers that leave cuss words blank like mother "blank".

That is my 2 cents on this subject.

First there is no swearing in vent or in game chat.
Now avatars and sigs are next.

Can we cut out all the killing in the game also? I find it funny that killing eachother in a violence video game would'nt be number 1, to stop. yea I know its rated T but how maney kids play this game that wont be able to play it? You never know if some kid might be playing UO and would go outside gave a gun and start shooting ppl and blame it on Call of Duty.
