I was wondering what keys you use on the n53 gamepad? How do you have it setup? Do you use the joystick on the side as your movements?

Any help would be great I know there will be quite a learning curve but hope to kick ass with it soon enough w00t2.gif

As well does the software help you set up the macros i.e M1A1 empty clip with holding down a single button etc.

Any other macro recomendations?

Help needed for both UO and COD2 as I play both.

Thanks.

I had this pad a while back, couldn't get used to it so I returned it.

" Do you use the joystick on the side as your movements?"

The macros I had set up for the joystick gave me alot of lag for some reason.

As for setting it up, its kind of a personal thing. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

You can set up macros to fire rapidly like you want. It is a matter of preference as to how you want to set it up. I use it some and then get tired of it and go back to keyboard. The buttons arent as responsive as I like them but maybe I'm just nuts. You can move the black hand rest back which makes it more comfortable as well as some other things you might want to ask Mike about. I'll talk to you on vent about it maybe this weekend as well if you want.

It does take a while to get use to. Geno already mention moving the black palm rest back. You do this by pulling up on it so that it comes off. Then reseat it in the two back holes.

The other thing is to add 3/8 inch hard foam pads directly to the orange surface under the wrist. This will elevate it to a more comfortable position. Finally, adding a quarter inch hard foam pad to the black button where your thumb rests will make your jumps quicker.

For the mapping, there are lots of opinions. Shadow and I slightly different mapping but we have a lot in common. For starters:

keep the default assignment for A W S D keys (marked with orange arrows)

Key 11 to go to Prone

Thumb black lower key (with the foam added) as Space (Jump)

Key 5 to reload

Key 10 to pickup (F key)

After those, people's selections vary a lot. It might be worth a discussion party sometime. Kraze, Shadow, OMM, SlimShady and a few others have the N52

The only thing I did to mine was move the hand rest back. Because of the way I situate the N52 and how I sit the elevated back end made it much more uncomfortable. As for my set-up, it's as follows:
WSAD are the orange arrows
01 - Prone
02 - Use
04 - Reload
05 - Score
06 - Jump
10 - Bash(i never use the pad for this, i always use my mouse)
11 - Crouch
12 - Binoculars
13 - Smoke

Everything else I do with my mouse. I should probably start using my thumb for something, since it doesn't do anything.s

The N52 came along several years into my gaming, so I knew it was sort of nuts to change to it, but I saw such potential that it was worth the learning curve. And all I ever have to do is copy and modify one of my existing profiles to any new game, and bingo, I always play every game with the same movements, or realllllly close.

I have small hands, so I completely removed the palm rest for the most comfort. Then I laid my hand on the controller and found that my fingertips most comfortably rest on the second row of keys.

I have the D-pad mapped to movement - wsad (and diagonals in-between), so all of my movements are handled by my thumb. The big black button below the D-pad I use for Grenade.

The top row of keys are weapon selects.

The second row of keys are, from 10 - 6, Use, Melee, Jump, Reload, VentriloPushtoTalk.

The third row of keys are, from 14-11, crouch, prone, red-shift (I use this for making the D-pad for leaning), run.

The only problem I've had with it is that now that my right shoulder, back and wrist are wrecked from gaming, I have no option to switch to using the mouse in my left hand and continue gaming, because the N52 only works for the left hand.

And so, I mod games and do behind-the-scenes stuff instead of getting to play.
