So I went & bought the original version of CoD2 so I could play online, but am having a hell of a time getting the damn thing to work.

Installation gets to around 99% then it hangs and gives a message saying it can't read iw_07.iwd
Hit retry but same message keeps coming up. Tried it 2-3 times and same thing every time.

So I went back to the original copy I had & reinstalled that, but I can't update it to the latest patch because it couldn't verify the installation, so even though my CD key works I'm restricted to playing on servers that still run 1.0.

Any ideas? Is it possible to install the game by manually copying over all the .iwd files from the install CD's?

Update to 1.3 buddy

Couldn't update to 1.3 buddy cos as I mentioned it couldn't verify the install to update it.

Played around with it all night & just got it going so will catch ya on there.
(bought copy still didn't work though...ah well, all I needed was the CD key)
