Full Version: WE NEED MORE MAPS

I know there are many topics about this, but nothing seems to have been done about it. The same 4 maps are starting to get a little old. There are a lot more great stock maps that we don't get to play. I think we should put all of the maps on the rotation with a few exceptions, like brecourt and a couple russian maps. I would LOVE to see farmhouse, rhine, railyard, and possibly breakout added.
Cheers to whoever makes this happen. beer.gif

It has been a struggle to find the optimum maps for the COD2 Stock server so that it remains active. After a dramatic slow in the summer of 2006, we decided to limit the rotation to the most popular maps and concentrate on playing those. Shadow took the lead to identify the ones he felt were most popular and we have pretty much stuck with those since the popularity increased dramatically after the change.

We have 7, not 4 maps in rotation. But based on your request, I decided to do a little investigation as to how our current rotation compares to the most popular maps played by the top 10 teams in TWL 4x4 TDM. Here are the results:

As you can see, we are very close to the optimum. However, it does appear that we could add Breakout and Farmhouse back into the rotation so that we have all the most popular maps covered. We have debated in the past about Breakout because many players have video problems (slowdown) with that map. But since it is in the top 5, I'll add it along with Farmhouse later today.

Does Carentan occur more often then the other maps? It just always seems like that map comes up a lot more than the others, and if it does, we need to change that. Keep a regular rotation. I say we add Breakout and Railyard.
EDIT: I just read the graph a bit closer, and Carentan does occur more often. I say quit that. If I wanted to play Carentan a shitload of times, I would go to one of the 800 Carentan 24/7 servers.

I think one reason our server has been staying full in the evenings is because of the fact that we have carentan and toujane on there double. I get as tired of Carentan as the next guy but it helps keep our servers full. So I hate to see it less. Hard to get it right for all us picky folks smile.gif

OK, here the best compromise I could come up with:

- There are now 9 stock maps in the rotation.
- Toujane and Carentan are doubled in the sequence but separated by 5 maps.
- Railyard replaced Trainstation because we play Railyard in the match next week.

That should go along way to satisfy even the most discriminating of battlefield palates. tongue.gif

I like the new rotation. Particularly, I'm excited about Farmhouse. That one is great fun with a lot of people.
