It was pointed out to me yesterday by an MOB member (during an afternoon game), that I had been firing on the wrong German bunker in Barbarossa, and I'd like to apologize publicly if I have done that in the past (unbeknownst to me). Y'all please let me know if I slight anyone, I assure you it will be taken with a cheerful thanks.
Were you firing at your own bunker??? LOL
Some people believe that taking down certain bunkers first gives your team the advantage for the win due to spawn position. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Anyways, although we try and strive for team work we also like to have fun. No need to appologize, the more we play the more we learn. If you get a chance take a look at the UO Barb section of our forums.
Let us know if you're going to get on vent with us:)

Are we really going to debate this. MANY of us are big brats about what we want done on a particular game. Most of us have played hundreds of games of Barbarossa and found trends in play. Ease of victory is helped with a progressive base elimination of 2 3 1 for the russians, and 3 1 2 for the germans. these are the debatable progressions, due to the location of the spawn points, and thier repsective placement on the map. MANY people go CRAZY if this is not followed and I am guilty of this as well. That being said, I have never seen anyone come in and apologize for this... So, Kudos. See you out there, but you will not see me... I am very sneaky.

Going to try it out either tonight or tomorrow night! I've had a few echo problems with Teamspeak (I have a friend who runs a board for Paramedics), and when I try teamspeak, it rchoes like crazy. Cant figure out whether the glitch is with me or someone else.

I think that it is fine to take any base down to about 1/8th left. This will save you from being exposed for 1:45 trying to knock it down later in the game when the whole team is guarding it. Just don't plant the easy ones first.
About 3 weeks ago I had worked a lot of hours and it was late and Hamma Time caught me shelling my own base. I said "You never saw that !!!" I forgot I was a German. Thats how tired I was.

I have to respectfully disagree. If a base is open there is no advantage to not setting it. It gains you and your team points towards arty. The only reason that you don't blow the shell is so they spawn there so if it's down you might as well set it. Sometimes it is the diversion you need to get people to more important bases.
JMHO
It was I that pointed it out. It is just a strategy that is used. There is no reason to apologize for it. The only thing that kinda pissed me off was when I was in front of you shooting my mg at you and typing to you not to shoot it and you drove into me several times. Later, you apologized in the game for doing that and its all cool.
I would say to only shoot german one down half way. There is always some noobs that come along if its too low and open it. Once its open, you may as well plant. The strategy is only good if the base is not opened.

LMAO Shred... I hope Hamma got a SS of it... I would never admit doing something like that, as long as no one has evidence on me. (I'm sure someone does though..LOL)

This is a great example of why I never continued playing BAS w/you guys, lol. I'd start the map and go out to shoot the other team. Everyone would start yelling at me. LMAO. The point... correction.. my thoughts on the game are to shoot the other team. I don't care about points, I don't care about which base... I just want to have fun.

Your are correct about the spawn thing. Thats not really what I'm talking about. There are advantages to leaving the weak bases alive. Don't really feel like rambling boring stuff though. Too many Germans to kill.
Hey Pez,
No one was yelling at anyone. I was asking him. Thats how it generally goes while playing. You make it sound as if there are a bunch of asses playing barb, lol. I have a bind that says please dont shoot german 1, go for 2 or 3 first. I usually hit the bind when I see someone shooting german 1 early in a match. I would hardly call that yelling. If someone continues, we keep asking to stop. Sometimes they will ask why and some will try to explain, or some will say read it on the forums for the complete strategy.
Hey Flat,
No, he was not banned. I really have no idea why he put it in this section.
I wasn't trying to imply that you yelled at him.
I guess I don't play that map or gametype at all and if I were new and hopped on, even if I saw your bind, I wouldn't know which base was which. It's a game and that's pretty much all I want it to be. You know I was joking when I said you were a brat. Just having fun.
Hey Pez,
It seemed like you were saying that you would think you would be yelled at for hitting the wrong base. But actually, if I typed to you that you should not fire on a certain base, you would probably find out why and then make a decision based on what you read as to the reason why not to. Not just keep fireing on it and running over the person that is telling you not to, right?
The bases are easily noticed because of the numbers on the map. When you fire on one, the base number flashes at the bottom.
The reason I play this type of game is because it adds an objective to the game other than just killing like the TDM that you play. I love going on cassino and tearing it up sometimes, but the team play of BAS is the best to me. I am totally addicted to it.

I do like more team games w/objectives, but it seems that the only time people play as a team is in a match or scrim. Otherwise, it's just people doing their own thing on the team or someone barking orders. My old team used to play a lot of DOM and CTF, it was fun... but people would start camping or doing their own thing, even though it was "for the team", it was boring and didn't give me the satisfaction of team play. Don't get me wrong, TDM has no team play... everyone's out for themselves most of the time. But atleast with TDM, I can hop on whenever I want, hop off whenever I want... and whenever I do that I'm smack in the middle of action. I don't have to walk across a map for 10 mins only to be taken out by some schmuck across the other side of the map on some PAK. I can see the apeal to BAS, I'm not knocking it... I just haven't had pleasurable experiences when I've played it.
This is why we ask many to go on vent. Its fun to play with everyone on vent. We do use allot of strategy on barb. Thats why we ask not to shoot down a certain base until last. I do know what you mean about TDM. Every now and then I have to get my fill of TDM as well. You need to play Barb when there is over 10 on each team. It will definately not take you 10 mins to see action. Probably more like 15 secs.
