Just got this e-mail yesterday. didnt see it until today.

Hope it helps everyone.

08/08/2007 13:51:00 - "Timothy Riley"IPB ImageNote #5: We have identified a cause of this kick and will be updating PunkBuster on Monday the 7th of August to resolve this issue. You should be able to auto update when you join the game, but if you are unable to use PBSetup to manually update your system.

Sir Ace
Hope it worked Key. I've seen you attempt the forest many many times. You're kicked instantly when you connect. Poor Keystone! Hope your issues are fixed, and I'll see ya in the forest!

Is there a MOB addiction hotline #? I keep staying up past midnight playing MOB servers! On work nights! I think I should tell everyone to kick me if you see me past 11PM. But na, need more practice. I'm el stinko in the stock maps.

Peace out! mobrules.gif

It might be a Forest addiction.

I can't count the times Me, Overheated and Flatty were rolling around in there at 3:00 a.m. on a work night. Crazy stuff.

I've since changed my ways.

Here is my ticket back from EvenBalance:

"Note #3: It looks like PnkBstrB is failing to start. Please make sure you allow the service files in security software like virus scanners and/or firewalls. You will need to allow/unblock the services PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe from your "C:\Windows\system32\" folder. In case of doubt, manually add both to your firewall's allow list. After the installation process you will only find PnkBstrA, so just make sure this process file is not blocked. Then try playing on a PB enabled server, in case of a kick, check if PnkBstrB was created and unblock it too.

Please make sure that both PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB services are set to start automatically every time your computer starts. Go to: Start menu, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services and change PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB to start Automatically.

If PnkBstrB is never created, please do the following:

* Download the latest version of PBSVC from:
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe
* Disable your security software (virusscanners for example) temporarily (disconnect your computer from the internet if you feel this is unsafe).
* Run PBSVC and press the "Test Services" button. This will test all components of the Punkbuster Services, including a trigger to start PnkBstrB.
* Check if PnkBstrB.exe is now available in the "C:\Windows\system32\" folder.
* Enable your security software again if closed and add PnkBstrB to the allow list (described above).
* Copy-paste the "Test Services" output from PBSVC in a new note if things are not working correctly."

Here is my reply and what I did:

"Note #4: Start menu, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services and change PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB to start Automatically. ( I had NO PBb there at all)
Disabled anti-virus, ran the PBSVC program (no problems) Now the PBb was in the
Admin/Services (I set to auto) Rebooted PC, reset firewall again to accept
PBa&b in the WIN/Sys32 folder. Everything seems to be working fine now... "

LOL, You know, in all seriousness, I have now reached a zen-like plateau when it comes to punkbuster..

Your plan of action seems to make sense, and I plan on trying that tonight when I get home.

You know maybe I'm wrong but, it seems to me that PunkBuster/Evenbalance could have been a little more forthcoming and helpful with rectifying this situation. I mean, what was I thinking?!?! Letting my anti-virus and firewall work correctly?!?! The nerve of me!!!

Its all good though, at least I'm not outside in the 104 degree sunshine!!! mobrules.gif

I know what you mean. Every time that I get an update from
XFire, I have to reset the A-V firewall to accept it....

I've said it before, I'll say it again, Punkbuster blows chunks.

Despite their promises of fixing everything, I still have the same problem. EVEN after I have turned off my firewall and virus protection, allowed for all COD and PB exceptions to the two aforementioned programs, enabled Pnkbstr B, installed all the frickin updates, it still persists in kicking me every time i try to get on!

I finally ended up writing for help to Activision because PB's sorry assed staff were less helpful on the subject than my 75 year old Father.

I've caught up on my reading though, and spent a little more time with my wife, so it's been a constructive break, but I still miss my {MOB} damnit!! Besides, I'm starting to get tired of saving Sgt Moody's ass all the time! How'd he end up getting his sgt. stripes anyway??

Sir Ace
You must be doing something right, you’re making headway. You actually connected to the forest last night and were able to type a couple things before you punked out. Don't give up now you here!

Have you/ or anyone just tried a full uninstall and reinstall? It must a dumb question, but I just haven't seen this issue. Knock on wood.

Kilz ya later, hopefully

Dude, I so totally uninstalled it's not even funny! I uninstalled both games, then went in and uninstalled all the COD files left on my hard drive, and started over totally THREE times now!

I'm not giving up, I'm just going to go a different route, writing to Activision, etc.It just seems to me that Punkbuster should have represented the companies that use them better by having a speedier and more friendly response time to customer questions/problems. I mean, their business depends on people buying games that have their product imbedded in it, so doesnt it make sense to help those people?

IMNSHO, they should have had a precise, step by step guide to what needs to be done to rectify this situation. Sure, have the automatic fix, but when it comes to the manual fixes, instead of just slapping some code up on your site, take some initiative and assume that perhaps not everyone knows exactly what and where that code is supposed to go! I mean honestly, how many people have fixed this problem by reading the Punkbuster website, as opposed to those who did like I did, and checked with their clan members and googled for fixes? I just dont think they are very user friendly is all.

Sorry for ranting.

MyWifesMule

Sorry to hear your still having problems 28. I know first hand how frustrating this can be. comp26.gif

I did post earlier that my problems with PB were firewall related, I was still getting kicked even after I turned off my firewall, but I solved it by clearing my cache of restricted programs in my firewall program. laugh.gif

Perhaps your problem is firewall / anti virus related also, (I don't know which one your running).

Maybe you should contact your firewall/anti virus manufacturer instead of going the PB or Activision route.

Hope you get it fixed soon.
Sir Ace
See, It was a dumb question! And I'd be ranting too! Good luck.
