i have finally come to the conclusion that just about anyone will sell someone out for a few lousy bucks.this kid has trained for most his life ,wins 8 gold medals to become our greatest Olympian ever and was blowing off steam prior to start training again.Id be doing the same thing and think whoever took that picture should choke on the money.

I agree, it's complete bullshit. I for one am for marijuana reforms and see this incident as a possible catalyst for them. Depending how more people react(Sponsors-most stuck with him, Kellogs dropped him), change could be imminent. It's a matter of seeing that someone can smoke marijuana, and still win the medals that he did. If there's a better example of the stigma of being lazy from smoking being disproved, I'd love to see it. To me, the affects are all based on the person, not the plant.

Props to Phelps though, that guy can smoke in style, rockin' the Roor bong. So legit.
Genocide Junkie
I've found that when you do things like this for money it comes back to you 10 fold. They'll get a visit from an IRS audit, have a medical issue that costs them big time, loose a job etc. They'll never know why bad shit was happening to them but it will.

How crazy is it we've had 2 presidents who admitted to smoking pot but people are up in arms over Phelps.

On a good note, although Kellogg's dropped him, he already got most of that money up from.
What pisses me off is the freaking USA Swimming organization banned him for 3 months even though the pot smoking didn't violate their drug rules which are in place to prevent performance doping.

Shred
Druid,
Do you about the messed up stuff that Dr. Kellogg was into?
Google it if you don't. Messed up shit.

Special K
FTW?

He should be required to hit a bong before every race to even it up. Can you imagine the size of the bowl it must take for him to get a full "lungs" worth of pot smoke? The average size human lung takes a liter of air. The two liter bottles we used to use for 'gravity bongs' basically used up all the space in our lungs and seriously fucked us up. A bong hit for Phelps and his hugegantic lungs is probably like us sniffing a flower.
Not that any of that has to do with morality/legality, but it's still something to think about.

exactly my point . he wasn't training ,he was do to start the following week. The report i read ,from a student who attended the party, was he was there to see a girl he was dating (banging-lol) and the whole party all of a sudden was his best friend of course. they all started doing shots together and in comes the bong.apparently shortly after the bong hit ,he got a little paranoid and left .probably went home to change his shirt and eat, lol.what the press is trying to grill him on was he had a DUI in 2004 ,then he smoked weed and now hes bangin a stripper.
if i were 23 ,had all that fame and 4 million dollars,i wouldve been banned not suspended.
tim
wow,
tell ya what...
if smoking pot wins you 8 gold medals, that should be the reason why pot should be legal, oh wait it is in some states.

pot is the lowest addictive drug on any market, compares to pop.

pot has no long term effects.

also you cannot die from pot. (unless a few hundred pounds falls on you)

also it costs more then 65,000 to place someone in jail for more then a year, is it worth that much to place a guy in jail for pot?
Kleerance
In Norway only school-losers use drugs. The kind of people that have brains like Mr. Bean and sportstalent like a mushroom, but still had to show-off at some level. It's maybe different in the States....

i don't smoke pot but i don't see anything wrong with it compared to alcohol .i do think that when certain people are overly intoxicated they make bad decisions, hell Ive been known to be overly intoxicated a couple times a week. Well its all under the bridge anyway ,we can all thank our good college students in South Carolina for ruining the reputation of our greatest athlete ever ,hes now contemplating NOT competing in 2012.

back when Spitz won all his medals ,im willing to bet my house (even though its not worth much) that he had a couple bouts with studio 54 and no one took pictures there to make a quick buck.

too much time on their hands.

You got to love Joe Rogan. He does great commentary for the UFC, a lot of people just know him from fear factor but he's big into MMA. When he was younger he was considered a master in Tae Kwon Do after beating pretty much everyone. He may do standup comedy but he's bad ass.

I studied Tae Kwon Do under Joon P. Choi. I also smoked pot. Can I host a show on TV?!?!
OK, this wasn't really about Joe Rogan. It was about my Tae Kwon Do instructer. Name dropping!

I always remember him from News Radio ,probably one of the funniest TV shows ive seen.He is great with UFC though, just got a kick out of his article because its a %100 true, lol.

I hope there is a backlash to the way this whole situation has been handled.
I don't know Phelps, I haven't followed his career, for that matter I didn't even watch the Olympics.
What I do know is most people would die before they would go through the training involved to be a professional athlete. It just makes me sick to think about some fat-ass sitting in his lazy-boy passing judgment over this kid.

i agree ,this day an age to make a big stink over a misdemeanor (wreckless driving carries a bigger fine) is ridiculous. At the same time ,i do think he acted in an irresponsible manor because he knows no matter what he does hes going to be under a microscope.

I'm sure he smokes, but if he actually smoked in that instance you know there wuld be pics of him blowing out a huge lungfull of air. I think he was thinking he'd just be funny, but when caught knew he couldn't pass a test. So the best way to to deal is to not deal directly. He never (as far as I know) admitted to smoking or anything else.
Would anyone really believe him if he said, "some college kid told me to put this bong to my lips like I'm taking a hit"?
Of course not. Saying that, he probably can't deny it because he smokes and in one of the most unfair parts of life marijuana stays in your system longer than any other drug. He could do coke but a week later if tested you wouldn't know it. Has he smoked pot? Well, we'd know a month later.
I'd love to think he's a great guy, but I'm wondering about his bad karma. Most people deserve the bad karma they get. Does he deserve it?

He comes from my home town, he smokes or did -lol
