how is skill, on the stats, calculated?
just for my own info.

perhaps, a formula. maybe a chart.
you know, the skill column on the daily and overall stat forum.
though i havnt tried very hard, i cannot figure the formula.
Kills times a point value assinged to each weapon
Bash 2
Pistol 1.5
Rifle 1.2
Smg 1
MG 1
Grenade .5
Don't quote me on the values, they are from memory.
Skill with this version of MohStats don't mean much.
The next version skill will be based on who you kill.
You kill a good player your skill rating goes up a lot, kill a newb and it barely goes up if at all.

hey, thanks a lot.
i wasnt seeing it in that form.
you mentioned the new skill rating so can i assume to see the new formula in use soon? it sounds like a good way to compare apples to apples though i believe that maybe a combination of both skill rating systems would be a more fair assesment.
so to kill a MOBster by bash would equal 50 points?
and to kill me with a bash, perhaps .033?

I very much despise the current method. I don't think any weight should be given to # of kills. Why should someone with no life that playes 30-40 rounds a day score higher than me and only has something like a 1.2 ratio? (not picking on anyone in particular, I'm just sayin') I think the best criterion are weapon, body hit location, ratio, and who you kill

i think it should be that way, too.
but i have no say.
The reason behind adding additional skill for number of rounds is because it takes more skill to hold a good average over a sustand time.
Anyone can spend very little time visiting a server at the right times to avoid better players and get great scores.
Thus, the more you play the much better chance of seeing the better players while trying to maintain a high kill/death ratio.
Anyway, that's my take on it.
I think the german sniper rifle is pretty high in skill rating points too (from memory)
I'd like to see accuracy factored in somehow...gotta hate those smg/mg fools who fire off a whole clip hoping that 1 of the bullets hits.
IIRC you also get skill boosts for ending kill streaks.
EDIT: from the official site:
Current weapon skill quotients (from weapons.txt):
Pistol Whip 4.0
Pistol 2.0
Rifle 1.5
Sniper Rifle 1.0
Sub-Machine Gun 1.0
Machine Gun 1.0
Rocket 0.5
Shotgun 0.8
Grenade 1.0
Rifle Grenade 1.5
Gravity 0.5
Landmine 0.5
This quotients are adjustable from weapons.txt in program directory. After that number of death is calculated the same way.
Number is suicides is calculated. Quotients for suicides are 1/kill_quotient. So for rocket it is 2 and 0.5 for pistol (if someone can kill himself with a pistol)
Ratio is calculated as kills / (deaths + suicides) Skill is kills * ratio))
Skill is calculated as kills * (kills / (deaths + suicides)) if (deaths + suicides = 0) then skill = 0

that's the point, these palyers AREN'T holding high ratios throughout. Let's say i play 5 rounds and have a 7 to 1 ratio and i get mad points for that. And you play 100 rounds with a 2 to 1 ratio and get less points. You still surpass me in body location points, weapon points and "who you kill" points. # of kills will probably always indirectly affect stats, I'm just saying don't make it a factor in and of itself. emsayin'.

Everyone will see a huge difference once Colin releases the next version of his stats program.
He has a beta version of his new stats program out.
This weekend I'll run a few days worth through the old copy and through the new beta copy. Then everyone can get an idea of the difference it will make.
OMFG...I GOT A HEAD ACHE WITH ALL THE MATH FROM SHIFTYS POST...I NEED SOME ASPRINS....
