Usually I don't care how people play, be it running and gunning or sitting and waiting. This last method of play is what this question, or rant, is about.
Earlier today I had just joined GoodFellas and the map was Remagen. The Axis, my team, was getting their asses handed to them when a player named CUBANRANGER started calling Epacy and Cypher hacks. I told the player that they were on Missionary and could not be cheating. After all, Missionary players should watch each others backs.
CUBANRANGER's tirade continued for the rest of the map and into the next one. Epacy had taken his usual position in the house off the alley and was dealing death to everyone foolish enough to go near it. Stalingrad was next.
CUBANRANGER was coming unglued at this point. Meanwhile, I had gotten lucky and fragged Cypher twice in the bombed out building with the plank. Cypher asked Epacy for help with a camper. I was thinking it could not be me.
Well, I was shot trying to go for the stairwell as usual. So I went down to the boiler room. Usually I do set up on the top of the stairwell for the inevitable snipers going for their perch, but this time I was moving to another position. Epacy came in, shot me, and asked if my player had legs. Perhaps I wasn't moving fast enough to provide him with a challenging target.
The next map was Algiers. Epacy set up in the alleyway behind the room with all the beds and proceeded to butcher anyone stupid enough to venture by.
Here are my open questions to everyone: What is the difference between camping and taking a position covering a high traffic area? Is it wrong?
My answer would be none. It is not logical to run around the whole time and get shot. "Camping" is part of the game. Be it sitting on a spawn point, covering an alley, or guarding a house. Learning to deal with it only makes one a better player.
I do realize this is a long post and most of you have played here for a much longer time than I have, but I am really tired of comments such as the ones above. I know I have a choice of servers and that if I don't like it I can leave. This not about Epacy's witty comments. I would just like to know everyone's thoughts on the camping issue.
camper = easy target for nades or bash.

GOOD POINT
my freaky thought is this, camper is a guy that sits takes cover waits for the guy to come to him, is found out and still goes there even being killed over and over and over. me and flame take the church in the destroyed village, i move on to debris to shoot down the road into the garden at that point....i dont consider it camping because im being proactive by driving the enemy back...camping is like ambushing nothing really wrong with it but people use the same spots over and over...alot of senior mohaa guys are very active constantly moving and shooting with good reaction time but they use the cover to their advantage...i do this in stalingrad...most mob members play this way...some dont...i play alot like lom in the destroyed village...epacy is really a good guy (deep down somewere) if you watch him you will learn alot...also watch real and diesel...their view is different...they see you as sitting there not being active, to them your camping like in stalingrad when you hide between the watertanks in the bolier room...and wait to shoot peeps as they come by if you do it alot or stay too long its camping...to get the guy who is bettter then you and then move on i dont think its camping...I usto do it to real, i learned to stay away from where he is now...do the same for diesel if you want stats...

Soup, that is why I stated it.
Silver, I do observe Diesel and Epacy quite a bit. That is how I usually know where to find some players, but my point is why would someone who actively guards certain spots call someone else a camper. On second thought, your definition of a camper would answer my question. Sure, I move around and take cover. That is part of the game which I am still learning; however, some areas are designed for ambushes. It is just frustrating to see players of such caliber as Epacy and Cypher verbalize in a manner unbecoming of them.
I have learned various tips from MOB players and regs which I am grateful. These have allowed me to post decent scores when playing against less experienced players.
Oh well, I do appreciate your thoughts on camping/ambushes/cover and look forward to seeing what others have to say.
i camp...a lot
My thoughts on this is
camper shamper
There are alway people who will play 1 single spot in every map.
The only reason people get worked up about those who play that way is because the people keep going back in and killed by the same person in the same spot.
NEWS FLASH...
If you know the player is there and is camping a doorway.
DON'T KEEP GOING BACK THERE AND GETTING KILLED.
I saw this last week by 2 guys on Southern France.
One guy was camping in the room where people hid behind the couch.
The other player when back there 8 times in a row getting killed each time and every time he cried about the guy camping.
The guy camping may of been a noob but the guy who kept going back to get killed was an idiot.

Just the point I was trying to make re: bash or nade.
If you know they're there...huck a nade
It constantly amazes me that ppl bitch about campers when the solution is so simple.
If they're really bad at it then sneak around the back way and bash em. If they're that bad they won't even look behind.

everyone has their own right to play the game. If you camp then camp, your score is pathetic anyway... a meesly 20 kills 12 deaths...... ok big deal, that's how they choose they don't care about their score. Then there are people who move around so much they get like three digit number kills, which amazes me because I don't even see that much people (counting my team) the whole 20 minutes on goodfellas. I move around and don't camp, I used to when I was petrefyed of Goodfellas. Epacy kills everything that breaths anyway, so why should he complain. Fresh meat is all the same to him if it's moving or standing still.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

I play different maps differently. Personally, I think DS is perfect for sniping. I almost never snipe on any other map. Now, I've seen other players that are great running and gunning with the sniper rifle, but thats not me. I need to camp out and wait for my prey. Other times I camp are when I'm in a defensive position because we've been pushed back (ie Remagen) or when we've pushed the other side back. Different maps lend themselves to different styles, though. It is a deathwish to camp on Stalingrad, in my opp. I hate Algiers, so I will often try to occupy the house with the wood plank leading to the ledge. When I am not camping there and killing Shifty every 30 seconds, I am trying to assualt it. People who play with me often know my hangouts. I enjoy trying to fight them off. But what I enjoy more is killing all the people who don't.
And while I'm talking about my playing style, I would like to admit that I'M A SPAWN KILLER AND PROUD OF IT!!!
LOL, thats why i love the chruch...if you know how to you can snipe the ally and the door (spawn areas) and they cannot hit you....
