how is the skill ratings set up? basicly i want to get an understanding on how to improve them... and all the posers can be quite, i know i suck so there!
its kinda complicated but it has to do with:
THe weapon you use (sniper/rifle is higher rating)
Kills/deaths ratio + suicides
Ending killing sprees
Total kills
can't remember all the rest
Skill Rating is worthless in the current version of the stats program.
Skill is simply kills times the multiplier given to each weapon.
I can't remember for sure what the individual multipliers are right now.
But for example
MG 1
SMG 1
Rifle 1.5
Sniper 1.25
Pistol 2
Grenade .75
So you take all your kills with each weapon then multiply that by the number vaule of the weapon and you come out with your skill rating.
Like I said this version sucks
In the next version, which is in limbo until the programmer gets settled into his new job, will be much better.
The next version skill will be based on who you kill.
You kill a really good player, your skill gets abig jump.
You kill a weak player and your skill gets a tiny jump
After a month of giving the algorithm time to work out rating for everyone, it will be a good reference to how well you play. Unlike now where it more about how much you play.

Basically it starts at 1000, and then gives you points for having a kill/death ratio of more than 1. However, each kill and death is multiplied by a skill modifier (this is the number in config.php), so using certain weapons will affect your skill more than others.
Then it does some weird voodoo to try to compensate players for playing against better or worse opponents. This part has changed in every recent version, and I'm still not satisfied with it. So I'm not going to try to explain it in detail.
It also weights your skill depending on how many kills/deaths you have to prevent someone who went 10-2 from having a huge skill because their ratio is so high. This is why you'll see mostly players with a lot of kills/deaths near the top. This needs to be tweaked as well.

ok, sounds a bit complicated but i got the jist of it, really dont sound like it can be changed unless i produce more kills. so i guess i have to work on that.
