I use the HD mod sometimes, its sweet, makes everything so much better. If you're getting bored of the maps, download this, its fun.

will the detail cause more lag

It caused a barely noticeable drop in fps for me , but my vid card sux so it might just be me. Overall I think it is worth it because it makes the game look so much better.
