I have bought 3 cds pakage that requires 256 color screen display, and 640x480 pixels, how could i change my system to all of thos requirements

Go to the desktop. Right klick anywhere in the open part. Click Properties then Settings. You'll see the dialog that allows you to change the color depth to 256 and the resolution to 640X480. (For some video cards, you might also need to click the Advanced button.)

These are very low settings, however.

What is this for? Sure those settings are "minimum requirements"?

its not a game or anything, its my younger brother's cd's, its for maths skills, spelling etc

MY pixels lowest is 800x600 how could i set it to 640x480, and i dont see option of running 256 either??

I would bet those are just the minimum requirements. Try it at your lowest resolution. Anything over 256 color shouldn't matter.

You're using Windows XP right?

Follow the same procedure as above. Click on the Advanced button, then the General tab. Look at the bottom of the dialog; there's a link to the help page for changing to 256 color mode. Basically, you right click on the program icon, either on the desktop or the Start Menu, click Properties, and then Compatibility. From there you click on the 256 Color button. I just read the instruction; I didn't actually change my computer settings. So if the instructions don't seem to work, read the instructions from the link.
