little old man
06/05/05 11:52pm
Just want to say thank you Druid for taking the time to try new things in this Old game by computer standards.Tonight we played the map Rocket Facility and not as OBJ but TDM.It was refreshing.Hopefully more we will be on the way and maybe a few nights a week included in the map rotation.
Mohaa is not as popular as it once was. When it first started you where hard pressed to find a good server and many times you would try for the longest time just to get in one.
With different maps I believe comes interest in a game I do love.It will not bring it back to its old days but maybe a few different maps a couple times a week can stir interest once again in game play.
Maybe just maybe clans can battle against each other the way it use to be. In what was called run and gun playing. In match's now most of the play is tactics.A lot of guys and girls really don't like sitting in a map and hardly moving unless its late in a match and your losing and you have to do something. With friendly new map match's once in awhile it can bring the fun back.
So any clan who reads this stop in once in awhile and give it a shot you may like it. Remember I am not saying you have to play these all the time but as a change of pace it has its place.
One last thing I want to say I am not writing this to promote anyone's server.I wrote this to promote fun and interest back into the game I love to play.
amen bro MOHAA aint what it used to be

.but hope fully all the ppl will come back and have a lil fun with new maps/gameplay
Thanks LOM
Post like yours makes the time put into modding a map worthwhile.

Thanks for helping MoH:AA, Druid. Can we(any OGL clans interested non-OGL too I suppose, lol) get together and promote your maps in addition to the expansion-converted maps? I have a million ideas for MoH:AA a lot of which are do-able but I don't know what kind of time you have on your hands and you're pretty much the last man standing for decent mods.
Thanks for the kind words but I'm a newb when it comes to modding, if it wasn't for a ton of reading at TMT I wouldn't have a clue.
About the expansion-converted maps that stones made, MOB was problably the biggest supportor of that outside of VX9, we just couldn't get enough interest up after the 1st couple of weeks.
My time right now is very limited and my focus is on two things.
A little server side modding of the stock maps to change things up a bit.
My other focus is setting up scheduled/routine scimmages between clans on custom maps. On this I'm trying to work out the details but should be announcing something by the end of this week.
Hey Druid,
Thanks for making on-line gaming fun. MOH:AA was the first online game I ever played. {MOB} was the first server i ever played in as well (Dont you wish I clicked on another server now?) . I dont believe MOH:AA gaming would be fun at all if it wasnt for people like you. If I remember right you were involved in missionary as well. Thanks for that!! If it wasnt for missionary picking up were EA left off i dont think there would be as many people still playing it.
My 2 cents.....

Let me know if you need us. DMG & MOB both got the maps and we appreciated that. I think we need to find someone with incredible knowledge of the winsock32.dll and C++ to make us a sweet front-end loader to grab custom maps off of a server.
I can program sockets farely well in UNIX, and even wrote my own webserver at one time. I'm sure programming sockets in Windows can't be that much different.

That's exactly what this game is missing. Add this and it will be around another few years.
I will have to say I liked it as well. A nice change of pace. Plus it was fun.

Reloaded was supposed to offer it but they scrapped it for a "faster" release date. What a load of shit that excuse is turning out to be...
I can write the code if you guys give me a specific list of objectives.

Start simple I guess.
Front-end loader:
Can change in-game options. Audio, Video, Advanced.
It should contain a list of MoH:AA servers to connect to with server information available to the user. Players in the server, map, map rotation, etc...
Buddylist eventually...
Start simple I guess and build on it. If it will grab the current map in the server's rotation, I think lots of people would use it if it was user friendly enough.

Well, That's hard to say Silver. It depends on what Cypher knows about MACs I guess. To each his own buddy, don't be ashamed because you have a MAC. If you bitch slap public players in your servers so hard they fall off the internet, then who cares! : )

I haven't played in a long while, but doesn't Missionary do all this?

I dunno, I would never use that. Plus I was looking for user-friendly. : ) Plus you have to pay money to get it running on your server which isn't a big deal but for someone that should be doing it for the love of the game, what's up with the commercialism?
Well, if all you want is a quasi-ASE then I can have that done by the weekend.
