Sorry to revive an old topic, but I've been playing a bit of GW when time permits and its kinda fun.

I know some people tend to be biased towards shootem up my gun is bigger than yours type games, but it's a nice change of pace.

PvP is loads of fun in that game - so many different combinations you can choose, and everything has a counter.
The support from Anet (developers) is simply awesome too.

I've actually been considering buying Guild Wars, WoW is a great game, but the customer service and Tech support really blows... I've been having horrible lag for about a week now and they have done absolutely nothing.

Also GW has no monthly fee.

I don't understand why some of you are so bitter towards this type of game. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it gay. There are over 2 million people playing WOW so there must be something to it. I personally have tried both and can say that they are each great games for their genre. WOW has alot more things to do than Guild Wars but has less of a story line to it. Both games have received excellent reviews.

No monthly fee may make it a better game to purchase, but IMO Wow is a far superior game.

wot are differant about the games anyway i dont see the point that they are good well i havent played them yet but i will soon most probaly

No matter how hard you try to prove it, WoW > GW. Although GW is free (a big plus) it lacks many aspects that made WoW awesome. For instance, healing, it was actually healing with cast times, cooldowns, various ranks, and so forth. I realize GW also had that, but their system of implementing it was horrendous.

Now on to free roaming and interacting with others everywhere. This killed GW for me. You leave a city and bam! instanced off from everyone else unless they were already in your group. With WoW, almost everywhere in the world you could go with people who werent in your group, pretty awesome. Sure there are instances, but without some way to allow different players access to it would be a disaster. Without those instances, 5 people at 4am could sweep through killing everything in the world.

Onto customization, i got to level 12 with my ranger (sorry, hunter) and i loathed it. The gear was rather bland and you could really only get like 4 different sets, the differences being pretty much the color. With WoW, every item has a different texture. Yes there are sets, but 1/2 the time they look decent so no biggy.
Price, 15 dollars for GW and so so so so so much more! WoW is worth it. With new things coming out every month are so, it worth it. They even fix the bugs which ruin gameplay for others as part of that $15. GW is free and i dont even think a rabid dog would chew would give it the time of day to sniff it.

Alrighty, now i know my position is incomplete, but WoW is just a superior game in comparison. Yes it has flaws, 8 years old brats like female night elves (one could only imagine). Now im gonna go out to dinner so my two final statements are; WoW > GW anytime anywhere and please excuse any grammatical or spelling errors you might have found.

Im not going to debate this with you, it be a waste of time, you made up your mind and I made up my mind and we can debate until the cows come home. Some how I dont think I can change your mind about what you think of GW and you cant change my mind about WoW. To me WoW is like EverQuest and Dark Ages of Camelot. And yes I have played WoW befor.

Honestly I have no favorite both of the games have good qualities...but guild wars system of loot is much better

I remember I played one and was about to loot some nice ass armor for my hunter.....some jackass in my party looted it and hearthstoned into the abbyss....In guild wars each player is assigned a loot and can take it or leave it...If u belive this claim to be bs.....take a look at this....

True, but i never get a chance to debate much anymore. It's really just one side is obviously correct so i never debate, whereas this scenario is perfect, both games have advantages and disadvantages that appeal to others so this makes it one of the better topics.

Guild wars: Owning guilds is cheaper and more effective allowing for guild to guild fights
Guild wars have 2 expansions, while WoW still hasnt come out with its second
Guild wars has a more realistic graphics
Maps are made individually creating less lagg and more monsters to kill single handedly
Parties can consist of computer AI's
Players level faster than WoW Because of "missions"

World Of Warcraft: More Ex means characters level higher than guild wars max of 20 (giving a whoop 60lvls)
Graphics are more anime style
NINJA LOOTERS RUN RAMPANT.....
Longer Inventory
More proffesions
No Expansions
Duels can be started anywhere anytime
maps can be explored w/ other players w/o the need to look for them in a city
Armor doesnt have to be made by finding reasources...
Trade centers and Depositries can be found in major citys such as Stormwind
Quests are much more simple and ezier to finish...(untill u get to a higher level)

Honestly both are great games Tho i Still hate ninja looters but both are liked by some and others who may or may not like the other game...

But In my opinion I'ed rather play COD....

TBC (the expansion) comes out sometime in January i think. Although i quit WoW, i still stay in contact with some of my old buddies and 2 of my real life friends play it. Also, you cant duel inside a capital city. Just commenting, nothing malicious.
